“Lovely relaxing stay”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

Just a quick note to back up all the other reviews. This was our last stop in Thailand and we definitely left on a high note. The resort is lovely and chilled and the infinity pool is just gorgeous. We stayed in a normal delux room upstairs which was big and very clean with a proper big double bed. I would recommend the upstairs rooms as the villas and downstairs rooms big wall size windows face the path people walk down or the pool. The staff were very friendly and willing to help. Not all have great english so if you get into difficulty just ask for Hong. The breakfast was lovely too with plenty of choice and served outside by the sea. There's plenty of restaurants and bars close by but the resort itself is out of the main area so is lovely and quite. All in all i would definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: For privacy, I would request an upstairs room, or a sea front room away from the pool.

We stayed for five nights in March and really enjoyed our time. Right on the beach with its own small restaurant that provided as much included breakfast as you liked, and the meals we ate there in the evening were as good as any we had during our trip to Thailand. The staff were friendly and helpful. When I left my phone charger behind, they posted it on to me at our next hotel. If we are ever back in Khaolak we will definitely stay there again.

Stayed for one week in March 2013, great beach front room, good food. Miles of sandy beach to walk on. Found a little bar on the beach called Lek's Bar, quite unique. If you want to kick back in great surrounds, this is the place.

Room Tip: Beach front are a top spot.

Ending our holiday through Thailand with a five night stay at the Shambhala Khaolak Resort we saved the best for the end! Having a nice bungalow directly in front of the sea with a marvelous view, a good restaurant on a doorstep, belonging to the resort and plenty of others surrounding the place we made the right choice going to this place. It had good recommendations on tripadvisor and that's one of the reasons we picked this one. Family run place, with extremely kind and helpful staff makes it much better then the bigger and more luxurious places we also visited.
In this case, smaller is nicer!

Room Tip: pick a bungalow with seaview in front of the pool.

This was such an awesome place to stay! I almost don't want to say too many things about it so I can keep it as my best kept secret.

It is obvious that this is a wonderful place to stay by the fact that a lot of the guests we met there are "repeat guests" that come back every year.

This small hotel is owned and operated by a local family that wants to make sure each guest feels comfortable and enjoys their stay. For example; I found my bed a bit firm and they immediately got a pillow top to put on the mattress.

Beach location is awesome directly on an uncrowded swimming beach with a small infinity pool that looks right out on the Andaman sea. The food is wonderful and our stay included a breakfast that was plentiful and delicious. We ate other meals there too since the food was so tasty and there was no need to go elsewhere.

Right on the beachfront property there are two exceptional massage therapists that are true clinicians that will attend to you and make you feel truly relaxed. You should book right when you arrive, because their schedule fills up fast , even with other people that aren't even staying at the resort.

It is an easy walk to other bars, restaurants and shopping areas/markets, and if you did not want to walk there are available taxis to take you for approx $3/couple.

Hong, Aor, TukTuk , her family and ALL the staff will help you arrange any excursion you would like to make, a taxi to/from the airport, a scooter to explore with, and any other request you can imagine. We asked Hong where we could purchase a memory flash drive to store some of our photos and she went and got it for us right away. She also took my husband to the medical clinic for the doctor to attend to an insect sting that he was allergic to.

We spent 11 days at the Shambhala and I wanted to stay so much longer. It has everything you need and at the end of your stay you will feel like part of a family. It is a small enough of a hotel that you get to meet others and your stay becomes a personal experience where you leave with addresses and friends!

I look forward to becoming a repeat guest too!!

Room Tip: Stayed in a Deluxe room. #203 Liked being on the second floor and we had a little view of the water...

We booked this hotel for a week for my husband and I and our one year old son. We were a little nervous as to whether the hotel would cater for toddlers given it is so small but everything was fine, they have a cot for the room and high chairs in the restaurant. They are happy to accommodate the child's tastes too.

Positives: great location, nice beach, clean rooms, large bed, lovely pool, great massages, good food and friendly staff

Negatives: initially arranging the airport transfer from home took three phone calls and five emails but they did turn up on time as arranged, no nightlife (which didn't affect us), centre of town is not really walking distance

Would recommend this hotel to couples and families. We would definitely return here.

Room Tip: Rooms near the pool would probably be noisier. We had a deluxe ocean view room which is on the secon...

A real Thai "home from home"! Hong, Tuk, Ou and their team make everyone so welcome, nothing is too much trouble. Fantastic food, great sea front rooms and wonderfully peaceful. Brilliant market just up the road. Thai massages are good too. Everything about Shambhala comes highly recommended.
