We booked this hotel for a week for my husband and I and our one year old son. We were a little nervous as to whether the hotel would cater for toddlers given it is so small but everything was fine, they have a cot for the room and high chairs in the restaurant. They are happy to accommodate the child's tastes too.

Positives: great location, nice beach, clean rooms, large bed, lovely pool, great massages, good food and friendly staff

Negatives: initially arranging the airport transfer from home took three phone calls and five emails but they did turn up on time as arranged, no nightlife (which didn't affect us), centre of town is not really walking distance

Would recommend this hotel to couples and families. We would definitely return here.

Room Tip: Rooms near the pool would probably be noisier. We had a deluxe ocean view room which is on the second floor so as higher up was quieter.

A real Thai "home from home"! Hong, Tuk, Ou and their team make everyone so welcome, nothing is too much trouble. Fantastic food, great sea front rooms and wonderfully peaceful. Brilliant market just up the road. Thai massages are good too. Everything about Shambhala comes highly recommended.

we already miss Shambhala and khao lak, this is a winner and we realize now that we continued our travel in Thailand. the resort is family run and the owner/manager is Ms Hong a super friendly, charming, capable woman that personalizes the experience as she explains the Sabai Sabai philosophy which gives name to the restaurant, with other staff one must be more patient and understanding as their english is not great. The location is superb, right on one of the best and less transited beaches I've seen in TH. the rooms are in cabins, very adequate and have a small veranda with chairs to chill when wanted. the resort has a nice pool overlooking the ocean and the busiest massage corner in khao lak, so you must book well ahead as people from other resorts book here. food is very tasty and while it may take sometime to produce specially when busy its worth the wait. 4 thumbs up!! we will be back!!

Room Tip: this is a place to chill so all rooms are quiet although the sea view ones see more transit from the guests.

Friendly caring staff, limited English occasionally impacted ordering at he restaurant/booking taxi etc. rooms were clean and adequate. Pool and beach was beautiful. The food from the restaurant was delish. Very quiet area of town, no nightlife.

We stayed for 12 nights in Nov-Dec in a Beachfront Bungalow. We loved the laid back, warm approach that Hong, Tuk and family have. You dont get hassled to do anything but if you need something they are amazingly helpful. For instance, I simply asked if I could buy English books somewhere and Hong immediately said she had to go to Lah On and would drop us off at the Book tree.

Pool is on the small side but abosultely adequate for the size of the resort and its elevated position from the beach is great. The beach was lovely and you can walk for hours on the beach particularly to the North.

An easy walk to to the many restaurants and market, its location is really quiet and uncrowded.

Rooms were clean and had all that is required. The beachfront rooms allowed us to sit and watch the sunset with a drink on our patio and was beautiful.
You could order a few different things for breakfast which were all well done and generous portions.

Its a really lovely place to relax for a while.
