My wife and I did the Phang Nga Bay tour with Green Andaman Travel located in Khuk Khak. Our tour was booked and recommended by the JW Marriott Resort and Spa in adjacent Khoa Lak. The tour was around 8 hours and involved a one hour drive to the Bay from our hotel which we found very interesting and a good insight to much of the area and small towns. We then went by Long-Tail boat on a beautiful journey through the pristine mangrove waterways (even saw wild monkeys on the river banks), and then out into the Bay. The islands are very beautiful and just sitting back as we cruised around was a delightful way to spend the day. Stopped at one point and went by canoe (with guide) through the caves and waterways and then back onto our boat for a trip to what is known as "James Bond Island". unfortunately named because of the movie filmed there. You can see the remnants of what was once a beautiful island but which is now sadly over-commercialised with hawkers trying to sell all manner of tourist trinkets. And, the place smells. Shame really, this requires better management and would be better if the original name was reverted to and not some sensationalised Hollywood silliness. We then had a lovely lunch at the village built on sticks over the water and then back to shore via the Mangroves. The tour finished off with a tour to a Buddist Temple built inside the mountain (very special and quite beautiful) and then a leisurely drive home. Overall, the trip was a wonderful day. Ignoring JB Island, the Bay is beautiful and the islands are magnificent. It reminded us of Halong Bay in Vietnam and the Rock Islands in Palau, similar though uniquely different limestone formations creating the islands. Green Andaman Travel were great. On time, very professional and everything just went like clock-work. Special thanks to our guide, Aom, who was great fun, beautiful personality, very friendly, informative and went out of her way to make our day enjoyable. I even managed an impromptu photographic lesson from Aom with my new, technically challenging, camera. Highly Recommended.
