“Phang Nga Bay day tour - Thailand”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

My wife and I did the Phang Nga Bay tour with Green Andaman Travel located in Khuk Khak. Our tour was booked and recommended by the JW Marriott Resort and Spa in adjacent Khoa Lak. The tour was around 8 hours and involved a one hour drive to the Bay from our hotel which we found very interesting and a good insight to much of the area and small towns. We then went by Long-Tail boat on a beautiful journey through the pristine mangrove waterways (even saw wild monkeys on the river banks), and then out into the Bay. The islands are very beautiful and just sitting back as we cruised around was a delightful way to spend the day. Stopped at one point and went by canoe (with guide) through the caves and waterways and then back onto our boat for a trip to what is known as "James Bond Island". unfortunately named because of the movie filmed there. You can see the remnants of what was once a beautiful island but which is now sadly over-commercialised with hawkers trying to sell all manner of tourist trinkets. And, the place smells. Shame really, this requires better management and would be better if the original name was reverted to and not some sensationalised Hollywood silliness. We then had a lovely lunch at the village built on sticks over the water and then back to shore via the Mangroves. The tour finished off with a tour to a Buddist Temple built inside the mountain (very special and quite beautiful) and then a leisurely drive home. Overall, the trip was a wonderful day. Ignoring JB Island, the Bay is beautiful and the islands are magnificent. It reminded us of Halong Bay in Vietnam and the Rock Islands in Palau, similar though uniquely different limestone formations creating the islands. Green Andaman Travel were great. On time, very professional and everything just went like clock-work. Special thanks to our guide, Aom, who was great fun, beautiful personality, very friendly, informative and went out of her way to make our day enjoyable. I even managed an impromptu photographic lesson from Aom with my new, technically challenging, camera. Highly Recommended.

“Excellent Day on Cheow Lan Lake”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

After searching on TA for companies to do this trip with I decided I liked the sound of Green Andaman. I waited until getting to khao Lak before booking and even though we were there over the New Year period we were able to get a private trip booked just for the two of us.
Aom our lovely and funny guide was great company all day. After picking us up at 8.30 in the morning she took us to Takua Pa market, a locals market where you could look at smell and buy all sorts of local products. Aom then kept us entertained as we made our way to the next part of our tour, rafting, with stories about her and life in Thailand. We rafted for an hour in some beautiful scenery, stopping for a coffee by a cave before heading for some lunch in a local restaurant. With Aoms help we were able to safely eat a selection of food, that had we been on our own would have loved to have tried but would not have, for fear of being ill. Next the high light of the day, an hours long tail boat trip on the lake where the scenery will blow you away. Here we relaxed for an hour kayaking and swimming in the lake. I'm not sure if it was by accident or whether this company knows where and how to avoid the crowds but the whole day was spent with seeing very few other tourists.
I would highly recommend this company and Aom and should you wish to book when you get there the office can be found in Bang Niang. Its not that obvious to spot as the Green Andaman writing is very small on the shop front, but look for a small row of shops opposite Mars Bar café, at one end of the row is a pharmacy and the other end is Green Andaman.

“Excellent experience with Green Andaman Travel”
Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

We took 3 trips with Green Andaman, Elephant trekking, 3 temple tour and phang na bay. For the temple tour we were the only tourists so ended up with a personal guide - Na who was excellent telling us about the history of Buddhism as well as telling us about the area and answering any questions we had, She also changed one of the temples we went to when she found out we had booked the bay trip as you see the reclining Buddha on that trip.

Tanya was our guide for the other two trips and whilst she was excellent at checking if we were ok it was a bit more shepherding us around rather than guiding us - a bit more general info would have been nice. That said she did get my husband to drive the long tail boat and the lunches were delicious

We did appreciate the smaller groups and the fact that the guides were local and would recommend the company without hesitation.

“Excellent trips with personal service”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

We chose Green Andaman after reading several posts on Khao Lak forum and I emailed them a few months back before coming over to Khao Lak.
Sam responded really quickly and we mailed back and forth for several months, with me asking hundreds of questions, not only about trips, and she answered all of them for me.
We originally booked 4 trips, but only went on 3, due to my husband being ill.
Firstly we went to Koh Tachai, we were picked up on time and taken to the harbour, which was chaotic, then went on a 40 seater speed boat, which took an hour and a half, then left to our own devices for most of the day on one of the most stunning beaches in the world, lunch and drinks were provided.
Our second trip was with Nai, who owns Green Andaman,he collected us from the hotel and drove us to the pier to go on his Thai long boat to watch the sunset, we had a running commentary the whole trip on the area, the Tsunami and the devastation it caused here. The waters were emerald green and gorgeous, we had drinks and snacks and it was a peaceful and relaxing afternoon.
When we got back to shore Nai took us to My Friend restaurant where he ordered our dinner for us and it was all so tasty and beautifully cooked, we really enjoyed it, then he dropped us back to our hotel.
Our 3rd trip was our favourite, one of Nai's guys picked us up and took us to do the elephant trekking and bathing trip. When we clapped eyes on the elephants it melted our hearts, these animals are huge, beautiful and majestic. We had a 10 year old elephant called Fooey, we climbed the platform and sat on the seat on fooey then we were taken for a walk on him and then down to the lake, where the seat was taken off and he was taken into the water for play time with us, we scrubbed him with a brush then just watched him rolling in the water. We then got back on him and walked back and fed the other 3 elephants and Fooey bananas and pineapples which are 50 baht a basket.
After leaving the elephants our guide took us to the Rainbow waterfall then back to our hotel.
Green Andaman offer a personal service with excellent local knowledge and personal experiences, their customer service goes beyond providing a service and they care that you enjoyed the trips, there are not many others out there like them and we will definetly use them again.

“Happy and well treated elephants”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

We had a great experience with Green Andaman Travel.
Our goal was to ride on elephants and have a bath with them.

We where a bit worried up front, if the elephants where treated good, but there did not seem to be any reason to worry.
The elephants looked healthy and happy, and well treated.

We brought some pineapples with us, and this was a great success with the elephants, in addition to the fruits we could buy at the end of the ride and feed to the animals.

The guides was in good spirit, and the whole trip was very relaxing and enjoyable.
Highly recommendable.

Dear Jtnru,

Thank you for your review, we always appreciate feedback to help us improve our services.

Firstly, I am sorry that you found the tour expensive. Green Andaman Travel does try to keep groups small and more personal, so for this reason our prices are not as cheap as some other tour companies. The lake is one of the more expensive day trips as the boats on the lake are a standard price that cannot be negotiated. These boat are traditional Thai long tail boats, they have worked on the lake for years, but are perfectly safe and in working order - we feel that they add to the charm of the place and the trip.

The toilet facilities on the lake are not the best, I will agree, but it rural Thailand it is difficult to find toilet facilities that are up to western standards.

Once again, we are sorry that you were not satisfied with this trip. This is one of our most popular Khao Sok expeditions and Tanya, your guide, usually receives such positive feedback. I hope you will contact us again next time you are in Khao Lak.

Many Thanks,

Sunai Leesakul
