“Perfect for a total relaxing time”
Reviewed July 13, 2011

Can't recommend this Resort highly enough.
My wife and I (50 yrs) needed a complete relaxing holiday and our choice of Chongfah Beach Resort was "spot on". We know we were arriving in the low season so the expected the weather could have been a bit suspect. The first week's weather was a bit "monsoon" style but the certainly ok.
We chose the beachfront Bungalow and how sensational was it to have the sound of waves breaking just 20 metres from our bed - which looked straight out onto the ocean -just perfect! The sound of the waves is so relaxing.
We had our own lounger right out front so access to our room was all too easy.
Chongfah is not a large resort so the chance to interact with the gusets and the staff is always available - it is quite "homely".
On the subject of the staff - just wonderful people who enjoy a laugh and go out fo their way to help you as did the owners of the resort. The staff and owners organized to take us to a local orphanage to deliver some gifts - it is a little difficult to get across the meaning of orphanage. We dropped off books, colour pencils, and the like.
Breakfast was always fresh and plentiful choices and we enjoyed all meals.
Being low season there were certainly many shops closed but as we wanted a far less busy holiday this didn't bother us at all. We were able to find some great Thai massage places nearby which we visited every day.
The resort is very popular with the German nationality and as Australians we had no trouble mixing well with the other guests - especially at the bar!
A nice touch was the late after noon room check and make up - complete with a little Thai hand produced "snack" - a nice touch as was the free souvenir photo they gave us when we were leaving !!
We selected this resort off the web and after reviews from Tripadvisor .. and we were not in any way disappointed.

Well Folks, there's not much to add to what has been said about this wonderful slice to Paradise, the Good reviews really tell the story of what we have both experienced and we will DEFINITELY return for more!!!Actually can't wait.

Dear Miss Bow,Thank you and all the staff for making our stay with you so wonderful. The extra things you did for the Birthday celebration,(especially the birthday picture)is greatly appreciated and will be long cherished. Thanks once again and we look forward to spending time with your resort soon.

We had a excellent time at Kinnaree Thai Massage (ask for Serene),near the beginning of the road after we come off the Main road towards Chong Fah Beach resort.

WOW!! Just didn't want to leave. We arrived at Phuket Airport and was greeted by our driver to Chong Fah who gave us a cool facecloth to wipe our hands and face before handing us two bottles of chilled water. The temperature was a stuffy 33 degrees and high humidity....the facecloth was pure bliss. Left us thinking whats next?? After an hour we arrived in beautiful Khao Lak and greeted by the hotel owner Bo, we recieved leuis and a welcome drink before being shown to our room. Our room was absolutely stunning situated right on the beach front, double sliging doors leading out to a our private patio. It had an outdoor jacuzzi and shower plus an indoor shower. Housekeeping cleaned our room twice a day and left a tasty bedtime treat with a note to enjoy our evening....
The resturant staff were fabulous, Sod and Rong, thanks. Tuk was lovely too. We ate like kings every day, there was no need to eat elsewhere as our intention was to stay and lap up the scenery and just relax. The infinity pool is just like the photographs you see in magazines and travel brochures. Thank you Chong Fah, we recommend to anyone to stay here, you will not be disappointed. Oh and the little old lady at Phurich Massage and Spa has hands of steel and is amazing. Just get on one of the mountain bikes from Chong Fah and head down the road about 1km. Amazing.

Room Tip: Get a beachfront room!!!

Nb. this resort is located in Phang Nga and not Takua Pa!!
I have never experienced anything like my time at the Chong Fah, from where I have just returned after two weeks for my honeymoon. It was the holiday of a lifetime, exceeding all my (very high) expectations, and the Chong Fah was central to that, From the moment we arrived we felt at home, and were made to feel like the most important guests at the resort, and am sure all the other guests were made to feel exactly the same. Beautiful location, perfect resort design, incredible cleanliness, service that goes way beyond the call of duty (I would not single out any individual staff members, everyone from the management to the groundsmen were wonderful), food to make your mouth water.... it has it all. I could go on and on, but would not begin to express how much I miss the place. If you are considering Khao Lak, and considering the Chong Fah, I guarantee you will never make a better decision then to go for it. Am sure I will return one day, and I cannot wait!

My workmate and I {two female travellers} have just returned from our annual trip to Thailand and spent our last three days at this exquisite hotel. It looks exactly like the pictures advertised {most hotels show gorgeous pictures and then on arrival the hotel is nothing like it looks in the brochure}.
We could not fault this place at all and both of us have done many trips to this country. Why we have never stayed here before I don't know.
From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left we could not fault the personalised service.
The beachfront bungalows are magnificent! To have a private spa and outdoor shower was wonderful, as was having our own lounges a mere 5 steps from our room.
We enjoyed not having to beg for more beach towels {this is a particular bugbear for us as I am sure it is for other women with longish hair}. No request was denied.
The staff were efficient and full of smiles! and we were surprised to find a hotel that had staff that were multi-lingual {German and English} ; a credit to their employers! Most guests were German speaking and I think we were the only Australians at this place.
We will return next year; keep that bungalow for us! We plan to stay longer!
Many thanks to all at this hotel for making our stay the highlight of many journeys.

Room Tip: All rooms were fabulous!

We agree wih the majority of reviews for this hotel, Chongfah Beach Resort is wonderful.
We visited in Jan 2011 and from welcome to departure everything was perfect.

We had an upstairs deluxe room and had been concerned (from reading other reports) that we might hear some road noise. To be honest, there was a little, but nothing that disturbed us. The room was large and beautifully appointed and we loved the simple decor. The outside terrace was huge and a good place to shelter and watch the odd tropical rainstorm.

In-room amenities were good and this was the only hotel in which we stayed where tea/coffee/milk supplies were topped up daily and we didn't have to keep ringing housekeeping to request more.

The food at the hotel was outstanding. The array at breakfast was mind-boggling, particularly for an hotel with just 30 rooms, with options for both western and Thai foods. The egg station was run superbly and you never had to wait long. We ate a lot of good food throughout our entire trip, but none that beat that served at dinner at the Chongfah. It may have cost a lttle more, but not much and it was worth it for the high standard that never disappointed.

Being wine lovers, we suffered a lot (small range available at exorbitant prices) during our trip through Thailand and had become resigned, but then happily accustomed, to Singha beer, but occasionally we branched out and tried cocktails - often with disastrous results. But the cocktails at the Chongfah Resort were amazing - best Margaritas ever. And served in such a beautiful setting, overlooking the sea.

The edge of the property sits above the beach, so you have you own private beach (complete with spectacular bay views) with good quality sunbeds and easy access to the lovely infinity pool. But a few paces take you to a flight of steps straight on to Bang Niang Beach where you can walk on perfect sand in both directions. There are various beach restaurants and bars to help you on your way and of course you can walk out of the hotel and into the main town to find numerous others. A 5 minute drive takes you into Khao Lak which has a larger range of shops, bars and restaurants,, but having done that once, we didn't bother again. We had everything we needed at the hotel and in the close vicinity.

Granted the Chongfah may not be for everybody - not for those looking for an action-packed resort with family club, but for peacefulness, beauty, romance and service it cannot be beaten.

Could the management improve the hotel? The only thing we could suggest was to put a shelf into the over-size shower room as it didn't seem in keeping with the all efforts made to make your stay so personable that you had to put your soap/shampoo etc on the floor . . . but if that's all we can come up with, well!

We visited in high season and the price we paid reflected that, but it was worth it. We didn't want to leave and if we hadn't been flying on to Koh Samui, we would have cancelled all other plans to stay. On Koh Samui we spent many a moment reflecting on Chongfah Resort, its superb staff and, most importantly, the way they make you feel.

Be warned, you won't want to leave!

What can I say about the beautiful Chong Fah and it's amazing and lovely staff.
It was the perfect holiday for us from start to finish and we only wished we had booked our entire holiday at this wonderful resort. It helped to make our Honeymoon the most romantic and special it could be.
Down a quiet street, off the main road and perched right on the gorgeous Bang Niang beach, this little gem won our hearts. So peaceful, so pretty, such amazing service and just the most intimate atmosphere. The restaurant food really was delicious with a great selection of Thai and western dishes and so reasonably priced that we didn't feel the need to venture far from the resort to try out new places to eat. In fact, when we did decide to try somewhere new we always ended back at the resort restaurant. Not to say the other restaurants weren't good but Chong Fah food was just that good with the best view in Khao Lak.
Chong Fah really have thought of everything to make your stay absolutely perfect - it's all the fine details and personal touches that sets this resort far apart from the rest. We have travelled around Thailand many, many times and stayed in many hotels and resorts and we have to say without a doubt that Chong Fah is the very best of them all. The vibe of this place is amazing, so quiet and peaceful with only 30 rooms but still so fun and warm. The rooms are gorgeous and so spacious and clean with such comfy beds and a lovely big bathroom. The gardens are imaculate and a tropical oasis with a gorgeous infinity pool that you can stare out at the ocean from.
Apart from the beautiful resort itself, the staff are what really make this place. Thailand is famous for it's beautiful Thai hospitality but the staff at Chong Fah just take it to the next level in every way...all of them, from reception to house keeping staff to the restaurant and bar they all go out of their way to provide the best and most genuinely friendly service you could hope for. We also adored the amazingly tasty cocktails whilst gazing out at the beautiful ocean and watching the sun set was so romantic and just magic, geez I miss this place...we missed it the moment we left...we will definitely be back.
Thank you Chong Fah! :)
