We stayed four nights at the spices & herbs and we enjoyed overall our stay there. The staff is welcoming and the place is lovely, well decorated. There is a fireplace and sofas where we appreciated to warm on cool nights while enjoying free Internet Wifi. We had the room #7 and the mothballs odor was disturbing (but we figured that it was better having the odor than having a tons of ants). In general, the floor was very dirty, the bed very clean and the bathroom ok. Note that the mosque is not far and you'll hear the call to pray at 5:00 am.

The food was nice. We have tried twice the ethiopian menu instead of the continental menu. The quality will depend of your choice. Overall, we recommend to try the spicy meals if this is something you enjoy. The service was fast and one lady offered us a little bit more sauce for free to finish our huge injera. That was nice from her. For the price and the position in east Arusha, this is a nice place to stay.

Stayed, and ate, here after a safari. A more traditional guest house with simple rooms but a lot of charm and atmosphere-nice courtyard and art works- with just a little renovation this place could be a real jewel. Food is good, staff are friendly. Great location, next to the very cool Cafe Picasso. Good value for money.

There are really good Ethoipian restaurants in Tanzania, but this is not one of them. The best are in Dar (so if you're there, make sure to hit those up). If Ethiopian is your thing, skip this - it will disappoint. And if you've never tried it before? Also skip. Not worth the trip.
