We spent 2 nights pre safari and 2 nights post safari at Ilboru. We were pleasantly surprised, the gardens are lovely, the pool area is nice (pool is refreshing/freezing depending on your tolerance!).
I had read that the food was not good however we ate here for evening meal and breakfast and it was always good. Apparently the place had a new manager who is a chef. We also used the snack bar which did good toasted sandwiches. I was particularly impressed that when you ordered food to eat in the garden ,it came out covered in cling film ,which for me, gave an indication as to their food hygeine understanding (something which can be rare in parts of Africa!)
The only slight critism for me is that the huts have adjoining doors between them, and if you have noisy neighbours, you could be disturbed very easily - they should look at soundproofing them!
Overall I would stay again at Ilboru - and you definitely felt that you were in Africa whereas some of the hotels in the town looked like you could be anywhere. I liked the resident mongoose and hornbills!
