Stayed here pre and post Kilimanjaro climb. Rooms were adequately appointed, restaurant was nice by Tananzian standards but the service was excellent, the owner frequently approached us and asked how we were doing. Pool area looked quite nice as well. Great place to use for Kilimanjaro.

This is good for a first night in Arusha before setting off on safari.
The food (variety) and service was very good
Rooms are spacious and comfortable but fixtures need serious updating.
Pool, gardens and lounges are very nice, good internet access.
Neighborhood is dusty and noisy- if you do venture out and dogs bark thru the night.
Is relatively expensive for the level of comfort but that seems to be normal for Tanzania tourism!

The Ilboru Safari Lodge is a wonderful respite from days of hiking or being on safari. A full service lodge with dining, swimming, and, yes, golf. For a nominal fee, Theo will take you to the Gymkana Golf Club in the shadow of Mount Mehru for a round of golf and drinks on the terrace overlooking the fairway. Great way to unwind after sightseeing. Transport, clubs, caddies, and laughter included.

A group of five of us visited Tanzania in August 2012 and stayed at the Ilboru Safari Lodge for a total of about six nights. We were all pleasantly surprised with the Lodge and with the friendliness of Lodge staff. The rooms were of good size and had the expected amenities. The pool, grounds, and internet services were quite adequate. We enjoyed the restaurant at the Lodge, with its friendly staff, diversity of menu, and hospitable manager. The food was good and plentiful. Our use of English was accomodated by the staff, although I think they also liked it when we used some Swahili phrases. The road leading to the lodge is not so great, but with many roads in Tanzania of similar construction, not a surprise. Overall, a Lodge we would use again if visiting the Arusha area.

Room Tip: We had rooms in both the lodge itself and in the minilodges with two units each. Both were fine. P...

We stayed here three nights, one night before our safari and two nights after. The place is very quiet and located in a suburb of Arusha, which is nice since the city center is recommended not to visit. The owner, Ad, spotted us as the Dutch and gave us a very warm welcome. On our day off in Arusha he took us to his house to see how people live in Arusha and he took us grocery shopping in the city, which was a unique experience to feel the African way of life. We really enjoyed this trip. The rooms are spacious and rondavel like, which makes it nice. The place has a huge swimming pool which we unfortunately never used since it wasn't really sunny. The food in the restaurant is nice, try the African tapas if you get a chance, its a little bit of everything and really fills you up. Overall we had a very nice experience with Ad and the hotel.

I'm delighted that Peak Planet booked us at the Ilboru Safari Lodge on both ends of our climb. The kind front desk staff, clean and comfortable rooms, beautiful grounds, and delicious Tanzania food, made it a real treat.

I did feel sad about use of water, where only 15% of Arusha residents have running water at home: a gorgeous swimming pool and well-watered gardens. But, it was a lovely treat - especially when I was exhausted after the climb.

Stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our safari and it was great. Accommodation is made up of little circular cottages, where each cottage is split in half to provide 2 private rooms. Clean and comfortable rooms with a small private terrace at the back. Swimming pool is great and the food is good. Free wifi is provided too.
