O.K, Arusha has all its good hotels on one area. But Kibos is different. This hotel as a taste of modernity and a touch of traditional Arusha hospitality far from the busy and sometimes Arusha's noisy central business district. I have been to only two hotels in Arusha and so I may not be the best judge. But Kibo does offer some good serenity, good food and a clean swimming pool. It is close to major International agencies, but still a walking distance to the city centre. On the night before we left we witnessed an exciting Tanzania wedding ceremony that went late into the night, giving us a rare glimpse of what we came to learn is "the wedding before the wedding" among the community in Tanzania. The best part of Kibo is that it is only about 100m from the famous Arusha-Nairobi shuttles that are loved by many East African citizens for their comfort and reliability.
Kibo is worth a try on any day, but especially if you are seeking easy access to International Organizations based here.
I was actually here on Nov 2010 and not Nov 2011, but again Trip Advisor doesnt seem to give me the option to report my earlier visits

Dear Paul,

Thank you for the great review and noting that our hotel combines a taste of modernity and quaint set up. Our proximity to major international organizations as well as corporate bodies puts us in the lead. We endeavour to maintain consistency in the quality of food, accommodation and services offered at the hotel. It must have been exciting for you to experience a Tanzanian "Send off" Party - indeed a wedding before the wedding.

We have arrangements with shuttles plying the Nairobi/Arusha route and guests are dropped off at the hotel at no extra cost. Special rates with the two major airlines flying between Kenya and Tanzania i.e. Kenya Airways and Precision Air can be organized. We shall be more than happy to host you once again soon. Please feel free to contact me on sm@kibopalacehotel.com.

Have a fantastic day ahead.

The rooms were quite nice, everything was very clean, and the grounds are really nice. But the pool is surrounded by bar tables and I felt a bit on display while using the pool. One day the entire pool area was taken over by some convention and it really wasn't possible to use it at all, or even to sit down there. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful; others were arrogant and unhelpful. At least twice a day I had to reactivate my key--that got really annoying. The food in the restaurant was not very good at all.

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for your review and glad that you enjoyed our clean facilities. We note that you did not enjoy your experience at our pool area due to the set up. The hotel is planning to expand it's facilities as we have limited grounds and trust with the new developments, we shall meet your expectations.

We note that some of our staff were not helpful. We are currently undergoing staff training which is key to ensuring that we have a team that delivers. The issues you have raised have been (and are being) addressed through training and we are getting extremely good feed back and I am sure you will have a magical experience during your next stay with us.

It is true that you had to re-activate your card at that time, but this has been addressed through the purchase of a new machine.

We would be happy to know what you love eating as our hotel is renowned for exciting and delectable cuisine. Please let the Chef know of your preference on your return. Do feel free to contact me on sm@kibopalacehotel.com. I would also be happy to have your email contacts so that I get in touch with you during my next visit in Dar.

Have a fantastic evening.

We decided to stay at the Kibo Palace for the last two nights of our holiday, looking for a nice 5 star hotel to relax at post climbing and our safari. We would have been better staying at the Outpost Lodge down the road for a third of a price. During our two night stay there, we had to change rooms three times, due to housekeeping not cleaning our first room prior to our arrival, A/C continually breaking, Fridge and TV not working. Fridge was replaced and TV fixed, but after that nothing seems to work for us. Our first night, the A/C went out at 1230am, contacted front desk, as room was extremely hot and no fan to turn on. After 40 mins a guys shows up and tries to fix the A/C, and after another 2 hours we are told it can't be fixed cause someone in another room turned on there heat, so ours can't blow cool air at the same time!!! It's now just after 3am and we haven't slept, and our room is so damn hot, we didn't sleep for the rest of the night. Spoke to manager and director in the morning, regarding same and changed rooms again, to a room with a "single" A/C unit, so no one else should be able to turn ours off. This unit processed to stop working 3 more times in the span of 24 hours. I would like to say that something on our first night stay was good, like maybe the food!! However, when we went for dinner that first night, we were greeted by a staff who did not speak that much english and every time we tried to order, her response was "WHAT?" Final we manage to get our orders, which instead of a medium steak my friends ended up with extremely well done. When she sent it back with one bite out of it, no one checked to see if she wanted something else, or even a re-done steak. Then as we go to pay our bill, they actually tried to charge us for the steak!! (Same was removed after we went up and pointed this out). The next day was slightly better, with the only good thing I can say about our stay was a very nice chef in the morning, who cooked our breakfast. I recommend people stay somewhere else, if your looking to relax after your climb. All we did was wait around for staff to fix broken A/C, Fridge and TV.

Very clean, well-appointed hotel. We used this hotel before our Kili climb and in between climb and safari. Staff were very friendly, rooms very clean, beautiful pool area, reasonably priced meals/drinks and they stored our excess bags that we did not need during climb/safari without charge. Currency exchange on-site (though rates are better in town), free wi-fi (though, like everywhere in TZ, very slow!). Hotel gave us a break on a room for a couple of hours to shower before out-bound flight. Easy walking distance to downtown Arusha (if you have the intestinal fortitude to head there....find a walking guide to beat off the street vendors!). Would gladly recommend and stay here again!

Our stay in Kibo Palace was good. From when we started speaking to Charity in Marketing, she was really helpful. On landing there, we had been given a smoking room and they were quick and efficient in changing the room for us. It is a well done hotel with a swimming pool and gym. We ate dinner there one night [we were booked on BB] and it was delicious and reasonably priced. The breakfast was ok.... maybe I would give the breakfast buffet a 3.5/5.
