This is a very clean hotel in a good area in Arusha, only approx. 150m from the Arusha hotel (the top spot in Arusha which is a frequent starting point for Safaris). The rooms were great and unusually large. The business center is really good, frequently used also by external guests, locals and foreign professionals alike. BUT: Two unpleasent things: We wanted to pay with credit card, but the machine was "broken" - nevertheless, it was insisted we pay cash and advance immediately. The receipt would be prepared "for pickup later", we insisted to receive it immediately, which was grudgingly agreed to. Two days later, when checking out, we were asked to pay again! Coincidence, maybe.
Also, our 1st floor (one up, not the ground floor) was located above the a flat roof (easy to climb). Nothing wrong with that, but on closer inspection, our closed windows were not locked at all, rather, they were arranged in a way that the lock was on the wrong side, appearing not to have a lock in the first place. This was in both rooms we were occupying. Coincidence, maybe.
Other than that, staff was friendly, the restaurant has little choice but was very tasty and good value. All in all, a good value place but one has to be very alert.

One more thing: This is in the quiet "business district", if one wants to go out and seeks nightlife, it's a bit far at night, you'll probably want to take a taxi.

New Safari Hotel is an very nice hotel located in the very centre of Arusha. A high standard, clean and service-minded staff. The good conference facilities as well as the wireless internet connection are appreciated. If you don't have your own laptop you can use the IT-room in the lobby. An extra value is the fact the hotel is own and run by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT).

Upon arrival the staff of the New Safari Hotel couldn't care less about us. They were unfriendly and not helpful and extremely slow to check us in. The next day, when we needed to call our safari company, they were first unwilling to help and then helped reluctantly.
The rooms were very clean, showers were great and so we slept very well (we travel with small kids and we ended up with rooms on different floors, not very convenient).
Breakfast was delicious.
If there was an alternative, I would certainly change hotels, but for all available in Arusha is is a good price-quality deal...

We used this hotel as our base for our 3 week trip to Tanzania staying a total of 7 nights. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had the same room each time, which was spotlessly clean, with plenty of toiletries. Each evening when we arrived back after dinner, our mosquito nets had been put down, bed turned back and a bar of chocolate put on each bed. Fresh bottled water was also left daily.

The Manager was always around to check that his guests were happy.

We were made to feel very welcome and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Its in a good central location too, away from the areas that you get hassled with traders trying to sell you tourist goods.

Arriving late in the evening and desperately looking for a room to put up in there is not much choice in the centre of Arusha. First checked The 'Equator Hotel', a 100USD for a worn out mouldy room, no thanks. Then across the 'New Safari Hotel' stands shining brightly and inviting. Rooms are much better fitted and the rate is also slightly lower. Check-in staff and porters were great. The room itself had a small TV featuring primarily Indian channels, the air-con had issues with the remote not really transmitting the desired input into the main unit, as it wasn't really hot the fan was sufficient to keep a pleasant ambience. The major down point was the size of the bed, while featuring standard width it was too short. For a paceful night of sleep try to avoid the rooms facing the backyard parking, all sorts of vehicles get started up before day break and the drivers are not really trying to keep quiet. Tried to get onto the encrypted wifi, the night staff did not kno the password, in the morning they only provided the details 5 minutes before check-out, kind of a late response. In general the hotel is a reasonable option for a brief stopover in Arusha.

Stayed here for a night after Safari - Ok and friendly enough but very disorganised.
Desk assigned us a room which wasn'r ready so cleaning lady argued with the bellman. Finally got the bed made up. Tap water isn't drinkable [true of most places in Arusha] but we had to ask several times to get the usual small bottles of drinking water.
Downtown & noisy - and we had a room facing the back. Guy on a motor bike decided to rev it up and circle the block multiple times late at night, and then the local ladies started yelling at him, he yelled back and the guys got into the argument - definitely an earplug place...
Breakfast was Ok - good fruit and fried eggs & toast but the cooked meats & stuff sat for hours and definitely wouldn't trust them. Staff totally unorganised - stood about not doing anything and occaisonally wandered around looking as though they weren't sure what they were supposed to do.
Church owners who don't believe in alcohol, so if you'd like a cold beer with dinner eat somewhere else [probably not a bad idea anyway] If you like reallly good Indian food and don't need a fancy restaurant get a cab to the Big Bite [friendly owner will tell you why its called that]. Tiny place on a side street - bit scruffy but food is fantastic and they'll happily serve you a beer

Just stayed at New Safari on business and had a great experience there. Also have heard from others who've stayed at other locations around town that these accommodations were much more comfortable (and you avoid the large tourist crowds that frequent other hotels).

Beds are great, bathrooms immaculate (as is the entire room) and the staff extremely friendly and jovial. Internet cafe is open 24/7 (though there is usually a wifi signal from nearby businesses).

Would definitely book here again.
