“An ideal place to stay before or after a hike or safari”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2012

The only issue is its distance from Arusha airport. Nevertheless it is the best place to stay after a grueling hike up mount Kilimanjaro. It has a nice pool to unwind. The service is very good. I had to skip the breakfast as I had an early morning flight. But the receptionist was kind enough to prepare a hot black coffee as I was signing out. Stay here and you will not regret.

Room Tip: Ideal place to sleep out if you are on safari or hiking and need to catch up on a good rest before a...

We travelled for 20 hours to rest overnight here before our Safari.
What a gem!!
A green and flowery Oasis in a beautiful part of Africa
The staff were efficient and friendly. The room was clean and well appointed. The pool although chilly after the 30degree temp was bliss.
The food was the best that we ate whilst we were in Tanzania, a
delicious 5 course meal was part of our half board deal.
All in all a lovely way to rest and gather yourself before you set off on the trip of a lifetime!

I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that the food in the restaurant comes from the garden of the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food is great and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. They also have a viewing towers which in a good cloud-free day can give you access to nice views of Meru and Kilimanjaro.

Room Tip: The rooms are all the same. I slept in two different rooms and I did not notice a difference.

Dik Dik is a great stopover point at the beginning or end of your trip as it is near Kilimanjaro Airport. We arrived very late on the KLM flight and the staff kept the dining room open for us and served us a lovely dinner. We booked a day trip to Arusha National Park through the lodge and we had a great time. The lodge's vehicles were new and in good shape and the guide and assistant (also the cook) were knoweldgeable. All of our fellow guests were either starting or ending their Safari or Kili climb with a stay at the Dik Dik. The prior comment about the dated bathroom is accurate, but the shower was hot, the toilets flushed and everything worked fine..

We arrived in the evening to the full staff at entrance to welcome us. They helped us to our rooms and then we had a late dinner that was very good. The pool is in a beautifully landscaped garden and very serene. Monkeys scampered above in the trees and on the roofs, but nights were very quiet and easy to fall asleep in bed hung with mosquito netting.
2 rooms per building, not interconnected but easily accessible from patio.

Stayed here after arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport before heading off for our safari. The hotel is located a bit off the road, not really close to anything else. We did not have any expectations on the hotel since it was just a stop inbetween but were positively surprised to find it clean and with generous bed. The decoration is a bit older (the bathroom looked like a german bath from the 70's!) and stylish is not the way to decribe it. But we slept very well under the mosquito net and had a lovely breakfast overlooking the gardens and the pool. Happy to get fresh fruit and muesli in the morning! All in all good value but would not stay longer than one night.
