We used Wayo Africa this year booked by travel agents Natural high Safaris in Shaftesbury. The holiday was fantastic. We met James our guide on day1 and he was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, professional, funny and attentive to our needs - which was just as well as we were to spend 12 days with him. The 2 Wayo Green camps we used were wonderful. Far away from everything but the food Peter the chef produced was delicious especially given the very basic facilities. Fresh baked bread everyday not to mention delicious pastry and cake. Husband is a vegetarian and we wondered how they would cope but it was great. Fantastic to go to sleep each night listening to the sounds of hippo, lions and hyena in the background. Heartily recommend this company.

I have been fortunate enough to travel with Wayo Africa on 4 safari adventures. They are outstanding at customizing your safari experience. Whether you do a traditional "Northern Circuit" trip or have them customize a trip to the south (Selous, etc.) they have the knowledge and resources to make it a trip of a life time. Jean DuPlessis and his team know Africa and know how to provide a true African experience.

After a personal recommendation, we chose to go on safari with Wayo Africa for our honeymoon. We gave them a general idea of what type of experience we wanted and they arranged everything for us. We asked to change around some things, and they accommodated every request we had. We did a combination of camping and staying in lodges and a combination of driving and walking tours, which was perfect for us. The green camps were well situated and well run. Our first camp was right across the river bed from a troupe of baboons, and it was amazing to be able to watch them while sitting in a chair outside our tent. We really felt like we were able to experience the African wilderness first-hand, and we felt good about them being environmentally friendly. Every part of the trip ran smoothly - all accommodations were excellent, the cars and planes were ready to pick us up when we expected them and all the guides were fantastic. The food was great, as were the cold beers waiting for us after a long hot day! We would definitely recommend Wayo Africa to anyone planning a safari in Tanzania who wants something a bit different from the traditional safari experience.

Wayo Africa far exceeded our extremely high expectations. First of all, it was a pleasure working with Lana, Wayo's U.S. representative. She was very understanding and tailored the safari to our needs. We would recommend the itinerary she suggested for our 9 day/8 nights safari to anyone who is considering a trip to Tanzania. We visited 4 national parks (Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti) and stayed at lodges and three Wayo green camps.

Every aspect of the safari was spectacular. Our guide, James, was very informative and professional and answered all of our questions, be it about Tanzania, the Maasai, specific animals, parks, plants, and even certain animal dung! We saw a remarkable number of animals during every game drive - never a dull moment.

For an unforgettable safari experience, staying at the Wayo green camps is a must! We even saw a herd of elephants walk by our camp at Lake Manyara and heard lions outside our tents at night. The accommodations were very comfortable and luxurious, even at the walking camp. Each and every one of the staff was polite and very attentive, often checking in to see if they could get us drinks, when we wanted our meals, etc. Every meal at the Wayo camps was delicious, more so than that of the lodges!

In short, Wayo went above and beyond to create the perfect safari for us. I would love to return to Tanzania and would definitely book a safari with Wayo again!

I am lucky enough to have done many safaris in Africa. Wayo Safaris has to rank as one of the best. This is not Africa behind glass, this is true African bush safaris with comfortable accommodation, great food, superb guides and the most wonderful positioning of camps. This is about the experience of being in the bush, being very close to the wildlife and having the peace, space and smells of Africa.

Lake Manyara camp has to be included on any safari. The camp is in a dry river bed (or wet if the rains are heavy) with permanent water in pools coming off the rift wall. Permanent water means game and the elephant are nightly visitors like great grey ghosts walking past, almost close enough to touch. Lion came in the first night we were there to much trumpeting and rumbling from the elephants which was then accompanied by the roaring of the lion and the barking of the resident, alarmed baboon. A cacophony of noise. The lion then watched us watching them for the rest of the day, about 80 yards from the camp. Elephant again came in the following night and more noise as the lion crossed to our side of the river and roared outside our tents... This set the scene for the most amazing safari from the green of Lake Manyara to the expanse of the Serengeti, waking up in the morning with what seems like the whole of Africa before you with giraffe slowly meandering in front of you. I could not recommend Wayo more and next time I am going to walk in the Serengeti or stay in the tree top in Tarangire. If you want a proper African experience, Wayo is it.
