Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Dashir Lodge in November. Accommodations and food were wonderful and I had a very relaxing time. Thank you for showing us the community around Arusha and organizing our five day safari. Guide very knowledgeable. Thank you Daryl and Shirley for a very memorable visit to Tanzania.

Dashir Lodge is personalized by the warmth and hospitality of the owners Shirley and Daryl: They are a great host couple. Shirley's best talent is in the wonderful dishes she prepares for her guests; as for Daryl, his unique talent is in his ease of conversation and interest, with all his guest. Great place to be... under vast Tanzanian skies overlooking blue hazy mountain peaks. Highly recommended place to visit and make new friends.

Dashir Lodge is situated in the African savannah near Arusha with a magnificent view of both Mount Meru & Mount Kilimanjaro. Ideally placed for longer safaris or day trips to local environs, all seamlessly arranged with local guides, it is a serene place for relaxation and reflection.

My son and I stayed at Dashir in November at the end of a six month long dry season, and the countryside was stressed. People who need the color green in nature are advised to choose a different time of year.

Dashir is a labor of love in progress with the owners Darryl and Shirley Peters, and their enthusiasm and love for the country are infectious. The accommodation, in African motif, was spacious, clean and comfortable. And the meals...delicious...homemade, mostly from produce from their own garden, with wine or beer, accompanied by lively conversation, compliments of Shirley, made our stay at Dashir truly an experience of home away from home in an exotic setting.

Thank you for the review and glad you enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure getting to know you both. In terms of the green, now it is March and it is very green all over with the rains. We also have laid down some grass and flowers that we will water to keep a green area year round!

My two teenager daughters and I spent the month of February 2013 in Tanzania and Kenya. While in Africa, among our adventures we went on safari, and climbed Mount Meru. We also visited several orphanages and schools. Our home base while in Tanzania was Dashir Lodge. We ate wonderful familiar homemade meals, and slept in a very well appointed chalet. It really was home to us. While its location is rural, and a bit difficult to access, it was well worth it. The views are great, and the property has such a beautiful African feel. Darryl, Shirley and their staff make sure you are well served. This is the place for a very comfortable African adventure.

Thanks Marc for your kind words. It was great having you and your daughters. Guess what? Our road was just graded so the ride is much smoother now!

Located just outside Arusha, this place is great if you are trying to avoid all the tourists in Arusha while in transit to your safari or need a quiet getaway. Peaceful, simple and elegant. Very clean. Super comfortable beds. On a clear morning you can see both Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru perfectly. That's unique. The place is run by a friendly couple, Darryl and Shirley. When Darryl picked us up, we got fresh towels and home baked cookies on the way to the lodge. Nice personal touch. Love the open savanna space that surrounds the lodge.

Room tip: All the rooms face Mt. Kilimanjaro.
