We spent here two nights in the lodges when visiting Lake Manyara National Park and before we headed to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is conveniently located close to Lake Manyara, and the town is very nice to go for a walk, with welcoming people and trees along the road.
Twiga Campsite and Lodge is not exactly a fantastic place, but it's good value. The facilities and lodges are more functional than pretty. Beds are comfortable but, and this was the greatest issue, it was too hot inside at night, even though we had the fan on all the time. The windows were also left open (it wasn't warm outside, on the contrary), and yet I had to throw away the bed sheet to be able to sleep. Also, with the windows open, you can hear pretty much everything that's happening outside, and everybody can pretty much listen to everything you say or do.
The restaurant food was probably one of the most delicious I had in Tanzania. Don't count on nice looking dishes. Just great food, that's what I'm talking about. It was nice to speak with the chef, who even gave us his recipe for cucumber soup!
If you are thinking about the pool, then forget it. It's just too small to be worth going there. Another thing worth saying is that, even though you are in a city, you have good chances of seeing some wildlife: bushbabys at night, the occasional baboon, king fishers and other beautiful birds.
Overall, this was a very nice stay, and a good opportunity to visit Mto Wa Mbu, which is a very nice city.
