We stayed at Kigongoni Lodge for one night before starting our safari tour.
The room was clean and equipped . It' s a very big room, with another area for shower or bathtub ( you can choose), and on the back you have the WC area. The decoration is very nice , very "African style", and the view goes on the parck ( but there are human activities-maybe plantations- so it does not give the idea of pure nature). The staff could be more friendly, especially at the Hotel reception, but in overall it was a good staff. The food was also very good, very nice restaurant area, terrace and pool. I would recommend this place for a stop-over in Arusha and for someone looking for relax and a clean and comfortable place.

The only reason why I find it hard to rate this place as excellent because we came here after staying at the Ngorongoro Farm House. If you are looking for Tanzanian charm this place is it. The rooms remind me of the flintstones with the rooms made of stone, nice large bathrooms with Hot Water.

The place is a little outdated but the grounds are lovely and the staff is fanstatic. Sander was very accomodating and had his staff take us for a walk to the market. Abu and Maria made sure we were safe and comfortable at all times and even gave us money to buy water since we did not have Tanzanian shilling when we walked to the market.

The views of Meru is spectacular when you are dining and the food was suprisingly delicious. We really enjoyed the pool area and as it was low season we pretty much had this lush 63 acre property to ourselves.

Thank you Sander and staff for a wonderful stay at Kigongnoni!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms closer to the pool area as they have their own private balconies.

Kigongoni Lodge is my favourite place to stay near Arusha. The Lodge is fitting in with the African landscape decorated in a tasteful, artistic and comfortable style with attention to detail. There is a beautiful breeze throughout the outdoor dining area where you can look out over the hills. It is quiet and a great place to either start your safari or end it or like me, become a permanent fixture as I am using it as my base for my work. The clientele is very diverse, and interesting all here whether climbing Mt. Kili or participating in a wedding from the UK. The service is personal, food continental and if you ask the Chef, they will be happy to prepare authentic Tanzania dishes. The owner Sander and his lovely wife Claudia are a hip educated Dutch couple who couldn't be nicer. There is also a non profit facility nearby sponsored by the Owners' family for children that in itself will give you an idea of the hosts and the hospitality you'll find here. I just hope they don't mind if I never leave...

Room Tip: I have stayed in several rooms and settled in the cottage which has a large living area and kitchen...

My partner and I stayed here after our safari and we could not recommend it more as it exceeded all expectations. It is tucked away on a beautiful property away from the main roads, making it very quiet and peaceful.
Our room wash huge and beautifully decorated, with a lovely large four-poster bed. The bathroom was also huge with a walk in ceiling shower. We spent some of our time lazing by the pool, and all meals we ate were delicious.
During our time here we also had a walking tour of the property which includes their own fruit trees and a small coffee plantation, which we were able to taste at breakfast - one of the best coffees I have ever had!
The staff are very friendly, especially the manager Sander, who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. A great thing about this lodge is it also support the Sibusiso foundation which provides support for local children with developmental disabilities.
We felt very safe whilst staying here as there are guards and an electric fence surrounding the property.
The photos do no justice - this place is a hidden treasure!

We stayed here for a week as a base for our film crew. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The cottages were clean and located on a beautiful hill with view on the Kilimanjaro. Every morning a nice breakfast near the pool :)

The lodge proved to be a welcome reprieve after a long flight to Africa and then again after climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. The setting is authentic, the rooms very well sized and the food delicious. The lodge graciously held our luggage while we were on the mountain and then provided us with the opportunity to shower (even though we were no longer guests at that point) before our flights back to the US. I highly recommend Kigongoni Lodge to travelers in Arusha.

Room Tip: Since the hotel is located on a hill, post-climb I would recommend one of the higher rooms (Rm.5...

We came here to start our honey moon as we got married only a few days before.
The service is great, peope are very friendly and the landscape is very nice.
One can sleep in and relax a lot. The is just you and the nature. Great! The owner is very friendly and gives you nice tipps.
We stayed there 3 nights as the rest of the time we did safaris. althoiugh the other hotels/ lodges we stayed were even more expensive, the rooms were not as good as at Kigongoni. The dishes they offer are really nice. If you are looking for some relax then the perfect place to stay is Kigongoni. I recomend it 100% :o)
