We stayed here for 2 nights before and 2 nights after our safari. The rooms are fine, comfy beds, wonderful air conditioning, nice balcony. The bathrooms are fine except there is no where to put toiletries. The shower pressure is adequate and there is hot water and electricity all the time!
We had a bungalow near the back by the pool and I was able to see people wandering through from the back of the property, so I found this a bit weird.
The food was fine. Good breakfast selection, except when they ran out of something ( bananas!) it took a while to replace them. Lunch was from a menu and when we were there dinner was a buffet. Bar service can be a bit slow.
We sat in the lounge quite a bit as there are no chairs in the room to sit on, just the balcony.
It rained one day and the floor of the main building and stairs can be very slippery.
Esther at the reception desk was great, cheerful and very helpful to us.. thanks.

Dear Judi K,

Thank you so much for being our guest and staying with us; it was our pleasure to have you! We take pride in the "comfy beds, wonderful air conditioning, nice balcony!" We are continuously making improvements and your comments regarding space to put toiletries in the bathrooms, bar service and the main building floor. These were addressed with the respective departments and corrective measures are underway. There should be a table and chair in your room as well as the balcony - but I agree, the lounge is most popular for watching tv, reading, socializing etc.

With regards to people wandering from the back of the property, it is likely that you were here on weekend when we normally get a few local patrons coming for lunch and drinks by the pool. Rest assured all guests come through a guarded gate and we do not entertain any "wanderers" in the property.

Yes, Esther and the front office team work very hard to make sure our guests feel comfortable here. Thank you and we hope to see you again next time!

Best regards,
Eva

Following an intense 11 day safari we found the perfect place to spend a couple of days before we flew home. The hotel is set out like a small village of garden houses. The accommodations were first class, easily equivalent to a 4 star, North American property. The grounds were beautiful and the on site bar and restaurant were equally amazing. The menu was extensive and the set menu dinner was delicious.

Not a million miles from Arusha and therefore not a million miles from Arusha Airport which is just the other side of town. This is a pretty nice place to stay whilst either waiting to go on safari, after you've come back or before you move on. We picked this place purely because of it's excellent ranking on Tripadvisor, but did it live up to it's billing .... eeeeerrr maybe.

It's away from the hustle and bussle of Arusha so it's nice and quiet. The staff are friendly, the rooms are nice and pool area is totally ok. It's not going to blow you away, but it's just a nice place to hang out for a night or two.

Room Tip: All the huts are the same as far as I know.

We stayed here for a night before and after the climb of Kilimanjaro (in 2 different 'rooms' / more like half of a bungalow really, since they are really big) and we really enjoyed it. The place is very pretty and relaxing. The rooms are spacious, with a handy mosquito net and a nice balcony.
The food there was great, we really enjoyed every meal. The people are very friendly too.
Its just outside of Arusha, but they organise daily trips if u want to go into the city. We really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the great and personal service...
It was really everything we could wish for after the Kilimajaro (the nice hot shower included).

We spent a night here before leaving for safari and then one more night after we got back after 14 days. The rooms are large and airy with little balconies and a bay window and decent mosquito nets. The first time our room was nice, but the television only got local stations and the wi fi only worked in the lobby. We asked for the TV to be fixed and after speaking with several people they finally fixed it the next day. (not that there is much to watch even with cable). The restaurant had a nice buffet breakfast and we enjoyed a nice meal there the first night from an a la carte menu. The second time we were told it was a set menu only for 3 courses, so if you are not that hungry this is not a good option. I did not eat dinner at all the second visit for that reason. We were told it was this way as the hotel was full - there were us and 2 other tables only. The staff in the restaurant were very nice, the staff at reception gave us a lot of 'yes' with our questions, but didn't really do anything. Lots of smiling, not much action. The second time we stayed the room was right at the back and had no television at all. They brought in an old television which again got no cable. Most of the time this would not be the end of the world but we were trying to get some news, so ended up spending a lot of time in the lobby on the wi fi instead. The bathrooms were small with no where to put anything. Of course the options for hotels is a little limited. This one is out of town a little so once you are there you will need to taxi into the town area for banks or stores. The pool was quite nice though they do blast loud music at the kiosk there which is hardly relaxing, and could be heard in the second room we had.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the property near the main building will not get the loud music from the pool...

Hello VixMix,

We appreciate you choosing to stay at Planet Lodge for the two nights spent in Arusha. I am glad you found the "rooms are large and airy with little balconies and a bay window and decent mosquito nets." and that "The restaurant had a nice buffet breakfast and enjoyed a nice meal there the first night from the menu."

Likewise, we appreciate your constructive observations on reception staff, tv, wifi service, dinner options and pool music. Kindly note that we do NOT provide tvs in our rooms... we donot have televisions in our rooms and never advertise having any in the rooms. In this case your expectations were clearly misaligned. When you requested a tv, our reception desk heeded to your request by bringing a tv to your room. Clearly the unit and channels available did not meet your expectations... but considering we don't promise rooms with a tv, I am not sure what more could have been done seeing that reception desk acted on your request. Wifi service is complementary and connectivity varies with proximity to the access point. We also advise clients at check-in that the best connectivity is available at the lobby.

With regards to dinner options, we never restrict clients to a set menu or buffet... the option to select a meal from the ala carte menu is always available. I am troubled to know you did not eat for that reason. I cannot imagine circumstances where you would be denied to order from the restaurant menu. Likewise, you had the option to order from the room service menu - for which a menu is clearly displayed in the rooms. We addressed thie with our restaurant and bar staff - that should never happen again. Regarding loud music at the pool, that is oversight on the part of our pool attendants, they too have been notified to keep the music at low levels for maximum relaxation.

Our primary goal is to make your stay comfortable. As you might agree, most things are easily rectified via phone call to reception or a quick word with the Manager... Likewise, we are very open to feedback because we know it is only through understanding customer needs that we would be better equipped to meet expectations.

Here is our call to future clients: Feel free to discuss issues and concerns with us while here. That will enable us to resolve the issues timely for a more enjoyable stay.

Asante sana for your decision to stay with us. It is my hope that you will consider staying with us again when life brings you back to Arusha.

A very nice, friendly hotel just outside Arusha. A perfect beginning and end to a safari in the Serengeti. Excellent value for money with super friendly staff. Bedrooms were large and airy and was grateful for the excellent mosquito net. Bathrooms not fantastic but perfectly adequate. No a la carte menu but a good buffet. Most of all, I would recommend this hotel for being well managed and excellent staff who could not have been more helpful and caring at all times.
