Bright African Safaris provided our family of five with the best vacation we have ever had. The tour guide, Chandei, was excellent -- intelligent, knowledgable and professsional, and our kids still talk about him constantly. The transportation was comfortable, the scenery and animals were spectacular, the itinerary very interesting, and the hotels ranged from okay to great to amazing. It is a Tanzania-based company, which is important to us in terms of supporting the local economy. Msangi did almost everything he could to tailor the itinerary to our desires and needs.

Some of our highlights: hunting with a local tribe, talking with fisherman on a lake at sunset, a massive wildebeast stampede, a visit to a village where the people grow bananas, carve wood, make coffee, honey and banana beer, seeing lions, elephants and zebra really up close, wading through a rushing stream after a heavy rain, colorful and talented local performers.

The hotels ranged from okay (the Kibo Palace, Arusha Coffee Lodge and Ngorongor Serena) to very good (Lake Masek Tented Camp and Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp). I was enchanted by the Manor Hotel at Ngorongoro, loved the Kisimangeda Tented Camp on Lake Eyasi and very much enjoyed the Sandies Neptune Pwani Beach Resort in Zanzibar.

We highly recommend Bright African Safaris! The only problem -- our children have now found that any other trip, no matter how great, just doesn't measure up to Tanzania!

(Some tips: don't overload on mosquito stuff, medicines, cameras and binoculars as I did -- travel light. Do take a sweater or windbreaker for morning drives, a couple of skirts or dressier pants for the evening, lots of camera memory cards and a small flashlight. The vehicles have charging stations, great for long drives. We changed locations almost every night, which was great for sightseeing, but do organize your trip so that you have a least one point mid-way where you can get your laundry done.)

Thanks Msangi, Chandei and Bright African Safaris!

This review comes a little late in the day – since I travelled in early march .. but I had the best vacation ever thanks to the very efficient Msangi and his team at Bright African Safaris. My husband and I chose to do a 7 day safari through Tanzania for our honeymoon and we were not disappointed.
At the research stage, picking a safari company can be a mindboggling job. I went through tripadvisor and was almost suspicious with Bright African’s spotless reviews - how can everyone be happy with them?? But as I started communicating with Msangi I realized why 1. They’re very efficient – I would get a response to my mail within the day itself. All my questions were answered in detail ( and a great amount of patience) I must have reworked my itinerary at least 10 times !! 2. Amongst all the quotations I received I thought that they provided the best value for money. Msangi packed in our itinerary with as much possible – just the way we wanted it 3. Our Guide Raymond was very experienced , warm, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He was accommodating of every demand that we made and always with a smile :) In fact he even altered our itinerary when we realized that most of the migration was in the ndutu area as opposed Serengeti as was originally expected.. so we spent an extra half day in ndutu where we actually spotted lots of cheetahs and a pride of lions! We saw all the animals and birds that we had hoped to see and we were very lucky to witness a pack of cheetahs hunt down a wildebeest !!! Thank you so much Ray - we truly had a great time with you !! 4. All the hotel arrangements were done perfectly ( with some ugrades too coz we were on our honeymoon!!) and we even managed to pull off a picture perfect surprise dinner by a private bonfire at the Serengeti Sopa Lodge for my husband’s birthday.. he didnt have a clue!! Thank you Bright African for making it a very memorable honeymoon !! Would love to be back with you the next time!!

We (both in our 30’s) just returned from our 6 day Safari (March 2013) with Bright African Safaris and we LOVED IT!

With so many operators available, we did our research, comparing lodges, campsites and contacted about 20 different safari operators with our requests for what we wanted to see. Although the suggested itineraries were pretty similar among most operators, we felt most comfortable with Bright African Safaris: It is a local operator, communication with the owner Msangi was excellent from the beginning, great accommodation choices and advice, airport pick up and transfer, hotel in Arusha included, and especially excellent reviews on Tripdvisor☺

Our driver Raymond picked us up from the Airport with a big smile (even though our plane was delayed for more than an hour). From the beginning he was making lots of jokes, was very friendly and made us feel welcome. He is an excellent driver and most importantly very knowledgeable and had an answer to all of our questions. He truly loves his job and throughout the safari, he was very pro-active in spotting the even hard to find animals for us. He took good care of the Land cruiser Jeep and made sure that we were comfortable at all times. The car was spacious and we felt very safe. This was especially interesting as we saw many other tour operators having car problems.

Short review of our accommodations:
- Christina’ House (Arusha): Beautiful set up with homely feel, clean rooms with huge bed, mosquito nets, jug of juice on arrival, great service, excellent dinner and breakfast. Lunchbox good variety.
- Twiga Campsite and Lodge (Lake Manyara NP): well maintained grounds and bungalows (we stayed at Luxury bungalow) with huge bed and mosquito nets. Dinner and breakfast buffet is however an area that needs to be improved. Lunch box was boring too.
- Ikoma tented camp (Serengeti Park):
The rooms/tents are a true wildlife experience when you hear the hyenas and other animals walking and screaming outside. The tent was spacious with ensuite and mosquito net over the bed. We stayed here 2 nights. The food was excellent. Great variety for the dinner and breakfast buffets. Fabulous 4 course dinner on second night. Guests are expected to pack their own lunch boxes from the huge variety available at the breakfast buffet. Was perfect!
- Ngorongoro rhino lodge:
Warm welcome by the owner. Nice, clean and spacious room. No mosquito nets. This area can get a bit cold at night, so don’t forget a jumper. There are also beautiful fire places in the guest rooms. Be prepared to see wild buffalos and elephants within a few meters of your veranda. What an experience! Dinner and Breakfast Buffet was big and delicious. Great lunchbox.

After coming back to Arusha on the last day we met Msangi again for a debrief of what we thought about the whole trip and whether we were happy with everything. Summing up from the start to the end, we found that everything was very well organized and managed by Bright African Safari and we have nothing to complain about.
For anyone planning a safari, we can strongly recommended Bright African Safari as a first choice and not to be missed experience!

Just returned from an amazing experience with Bright African Safaris. From start to finish they were efficient, helpful and friendly. We chose this company mainly on the basis of the reviews on Trip Adviser and were not disappointed.

We had nothing booked so with just a few days before we were due to arrive in Arusha contacted the company by email and received an immediate response offering two options. We selected the budget camping five day four night safari which included the rental of sleeping bags. The camping was fairly basic, but the equipment was clean and in good order. The sites selected again though basic and mainly public campsites, all had clean toilets and showers. The trip included time in the Ngorongoro conservation area and the Serengeti and we were fortunate in the time of year as we were able to witness the wilder-beast migration which was an additional feature of the safari.

The organisation of the trip by Msangi Charema was excellent and very efficient. We were collected as promised at the airport and taken to a guest house for the first night where an evening meal was prepared and ready for us and at 8.00am the next day we were collected by our guide and cook Leonard and Jamal in the safari vehicle. They took us to the office to meet Msangi and his assistant in person as they wanted to ensure we had everything we needed. As we hadn't booked any hotel for the nights after we returned from the safari, Msangi offered to look into this and find a place to suit our budget. He booked us into the Outpost Lodge which was excellent and just what we need for some rest and relaxation after our trip.

I would like to make a special mention about Leonard who is a truly amazing guide, he was from the Masai tribe and his life history was very interesting, he has an extensive knowledge of the area and the wildlife and he seemed to know just how to find close up encounters with the animals. He is an extremely engaging, friendly and talkative companion and we thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated his company. Jamal is an excellent cook and provided us with amazing meals, hearty breakfasts of fresh fruit, pancakes, omelet, sausages and toast, either cooked or packed lunches and tasty evening meals. If you can, request Leonard and Jamal who will make sure your trip is truly magical.

Our private safari with Bright African Safaris exceeded our expectations. We chose Bright African because it is a local Tanzanian business owned by Msangi Charema. He is a “hands-on business man and very responsive. I communicated directly with him and he turned himself inside out to satisfy our requests. We wanted a 4 day “active” safari to Arusha National Park and the Tarangire National Park…not just sitting in a car. We got it.
We walked and canoed in the Arusha Park and had a great walk with several Maasai in a large area and the village just outside the Tarangire Park.
Our guide/driver Amiri was excellent. He is a kind and thoughtful human being with a very nice sense of humor. Was able to spot animals and birds easily. He loves nature and we learned so much about the animals, the birds and the plants and trees from him. Amiri also arranged for us to visit the local Maasai school and the local health clinic when he found out that we were interested in them.

For us, this safari followed a longer one run by an international company. We enjoyed this one more.
