We (both in our 30’s) just returned from our 6 day Safari (March 2013) with Bright African Safaris and we LOVED IT!
With so many operators available, we did our research, comparing lodges, campsites and contacted about 20 different safari operators with our requests for what we wanted to see. Although the suggested itineraries were pretty similar among most operators, we felt most comfortable with Bright African Safaris: It is a local operator, communication with the owner Msangi was excellent from the beginning, great accommodation choices and advice, airport pick up and transfer, hotel in Arusha included, and especially excellent reviews on Tripdvisor☺
Our driver Raymond picked us up from the Airport with a big smile (even though our plane was delayed for more than an hour). From the beginning he was making lots of jokes, was very friendly and made us feel welcome. He is an excellent driver and most importantly very knowledgeable and had an answer to all of our questions. He truly loves his job and throughout the safari, he was very pro-active in spotting the even hard to find animals for us. He took good care of the Land cruiser Jeep and made sure that we were comfortable at all times. The car was spacious and we felt very safe. This was especially interesting as we saw many other tour operators having car problems.
Short review of our accommodations:
- Christina’ House (Arusha): Beautiful set up with homely feel, clean rooms with huge bed, mosquito nets, jug of juice on arrival, great service, excellent dinner and breakfast. Lunchbox good variety.
- Twiga Campsite and Lodge (Lake Manyara NP): well maintained grounds and bungalows (we stayed at Luxury bungalow) with huge bed and mosquito nets. Dinner and breakfast buffet is however an area that needs to be improved. Lunch box was boring too.
- Ikoma tented camp (Serengeti Park):
The rooms/tents are a true wildlife experience when you hear the hyenas and other animals walking and screaming outside. The tent was spacious with ensuite and mosquito net over the bed. We stayed here 2 nights. The food was excellent. Great variety for the dinner and breakfast buffets. Fabulous 4 course dinner on second night. Guests are expected to pack their own lunch boxes from the huge variety available at the breakfast buffet. Was perfect!
- Ngorongoro rhino lodge:
Warm welcome by the owner. Nice, clean and spacious room. No mosquito nets. This area can get a bit cold at night, so don’t forget a jumper. There are also beautiful fire places in the guest rooms. Be prepared to see wild buffalos and elephants within a few meters of your veranda. What an experience! Dinner and Breakfast Buffet was big and delicious. Great lunchbox.
After coming back to Arusha on the last day we met Msangi again for a debrief of what we thought about the whole trip and whether we were happy with everything. Summing up from the start to the end, we found that everything was very well organized and managed by Bright African Safari and we have nothing to complain about.
For anyone planning a safari, we can strongly recommended Bright African Safari as a first choice and not to be missed experience!
