“Great food, wonderful crafts!”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

We had an excellent lunch, and even more wonderful was the tour of the craft area. I bought a couple of things, but fell in love with the small blue pitcher with the handle shaped like and elephant! If I had more room in my carry one, I would have purchased some additional glassware!

Soup and bread are brought by the waiter, while salads are served buffet style. Your entrees are prepared over the open grill and you select them buffet style as well. Your dessert is served at the table. Overall, this was a lovely meal in a very relaxing environment, accompanied by a nice opportunity to pick up a few last minute gifts.

“A very special place”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

Shanga Shangaa is many things. They have a glass blowing facility. They make their own glass beads for bead-craft. They have weavers making cloth. Others are creating crafts of various kinds, all of which they sell in their shop. There is a lovely garden where you can have drinks, and a very good restaurant, too.

The key is that all of the people creating this are disabled: deaf, blind or handicapped. They have a saying painted on a wall there: "Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see." It is a special place.

We were in Arusha twice. We made a point of going to Shanga Shangaa both times.

“Lovely afternoon”
Reviewed June 24, 2014

We spent a lovely afternoon at Shanga watching the demonstrations by the artists here. Then we shopped tip we dropped purchasing amazing items created on site. The whole premise is heart-warming and special. Sitting outside and having a drink, relaxing under the trees. I highly recommend it!

“A must see!”

The coffee plantation, workshops that provide employment for some great people and unbelievably good food were all the perfect afternoon oasis for our short stay in Arusha.

“Delicious Food, Great art, Good Cause”
Reviewed March 22, 2014

This place had some of the best food I ate during my months in Tanzania. The filet mignon was mouthwatering and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was lovely as well. The arts and crafts were truly incredible, I bought quite a few things because they have more unique, better quality things than you'll find at the market and after all, it goes to a wonderful cause. Really inspiring. A must do in Arusha.
