“Safari...lite!”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

Close to our hotel (1.5 hours), wonderful selection of wildlife. Thrilled to be passed by a large heard of elephants! If you have limited time, but still want to go on a safari, this is a great option. Cost was $150 for the day with lunch.

“The village”
Reviewed July 4, 2012

We drove thru the village of Arusha. It wasn't the cleanest of villages. Lots of people out of work. Every other person was selling bananas. Other veggies were sold along the roadway. Colorful clothing on the ladies. Lots of motorbikes==for taxi use==that was interesting. We also stopped at a village shopping area where you could bargain for goods. Everyone wants to sell you something out of their shops. I'm a shopaholic, so I really enjoyed this place. Joan and Lee Porter, Pleasanton, Ca

“It's an experience.”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

Good, bad, you decide. At first it will be overwhelming as you head to the center of town and get bombarded with people trying to sell you something. They can be fairly pushy. But a stern "no" and you'll be all right.

Walking through town is quite an experience. You'll really get an understanding of how the people live and thrive in this town.

We didn't venture out after dark as we weren't sure how we would be treated and/or for concerns of our safety. I'm sure we would have been fine, but we choose to stay around the hotel for dinner and relaxing.

“If you have traveled all this way.. you should get exposed to some local culture”
Reviewed December 22, 2011

I think the title says it all. Learning how the human mammals thrive in this African country is just as important as how the four legged kind survive. You will be enlightened and frustrated with the things you will learn and see. But it is imperative that your visit is not just about your own self gratification of spotting "the big five" but about the knowledge on how the rest of the world functions in daily life. Trust me. You'll love it even if it may make you temporarily uncomfortable.
