We went on a week-long Safari adventure with Asili Explorer, and we are now telling all of our friends about it! It was tough to choose between all of the companies we were recommended towards and the ones with good reviews online. But we loved that Asili is a local Tanzanian owned company, and that they were really prompt and thorough in answering all of our questions and helping us to plan the best trip for our group. Their rates were also highly competitive.
We worked with Elly in Sales for the planning portion. She was super responsive and gave us good options based on our budget and preferences. Once we arrived, our guide was Ephata. He has over 20 years of experience being a guide in Tanzania. He knew all of the roads like the back of his hand (and even helped a few newer guides from other companies who got lost along the way!) He was able to tell us all of the animals’ names (including all of the birds we saw), and to explain their behaviours and tell us what to watch for.
Joe, the owner of the company, was eager to ensure we had a great time and had everything we needed and any concerns addressed. He greeted us in person at the start and end of the trip, checked in daily, and made sure we were happy. It was such a great personal touch.
We saw all of the big 5, including a rhino!! Considering there are only about 20 left in the Ngorongoro Crater, it’s a toss up as to whether you’ll see one or not. But Ephata made sure we got plenty of time on the road for game drives, so we could see all of the animals on our list.
We highly recommend this company for families with kids and really anyone just looking for a trustworthy safari company who will help you to have the best trip possible. Be sure to ask to stay in the Asili Serengeti Camp if you get a chance! It’s an amazing experience!
