Comfortable rooms, great food and amazing service located in a historical mansion on grounds surrounded by natural springs with a view of the Kilimanjaro Mountain!

How could such a place be anything but excellent!

I spent 4 nights at Ngare Sero Lodge a couple of weeks ago and what an amazing place. Beautiful and spacious garden welcoming you when you arrive; large swimming pool providing the perfect setting where you truly feel in a bygone era, lake providing a seetting where you feel you are in an enigmatic world, monkeys jumping around in the trees and the view towards Kilimanjaro when the skies open up provide a complete lodge experience. Very kind and helpful staff and the management at the hotel know the area and surroundings very well. I will return many times in the future and for me Ngare Sero Lodge was just a wonderful experience. Hope I see you there.

We have stayed at Ngare Sero several times on our many trips to Tanzania. It is the perfect place to relax after a long air trip to Africa or before or after a safari or climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. The lodge is a mile off the main highway halfway between Kilimanjaro airport and Arusha located in a tranquil forest setting. The grounds are lush even in the dry season. There are beautiful gardens and a large swimming pool in a tranquil setting. Horses roam the property and are available for riding. There are many walking trails in the forest and around the lake and river, both of which attract an abundance of bird life. The rooms are quite pleasant, although it would be helpful if they would install handles to make it easier to get in and out of the tub to take a shower. The lighting in the bath and dressing area also could be a bit better. Meals are excellent and the staff is both efficient and friendly. One nice little touch is how the napkins are folded in theshape of a different animal before each dinner. Meals can be taken either in the dining room or on a patio overlooking the lake. There is a quite pleasant veranda where you can relax with a drink and watch the troops of colobus and sykes monkeys in the trees; when the weather is right there is a spectacular evening view of a snow-covered Mt. Kilimanjaro. The two resident dogs often will stop by to sit at your feet have their ears scratched. On a prior trip we took an excursioin to a place called Chemka Hot Springs for a relaxing picnic day. It is a beautiful lush swimming hole created by a warm undergroud spring; made for a wonderful afternoon. We highly recommend this lodge.

We stayed 2 nights at the end of our safari on our way to Nairobi airport...
It's a great lodge in the forest, you would not think being nearby Arusha. Wonderful garden, swimming pool, horses walking by, monkeys in the trees,... everything you need to really relax.
Great service, friendly staff, the ideal place to get some rest before or after your safari.
Rooms are great, although some details like broken shower and broken lightning impact your basic comfort level experience. Lunch and dinner service inside, while great weather and a sublime patio outside...
The excellent place to stay, although missing a few details for the price you pay. Worth staying here, but management need to stay ahead and not enjoy to much themselves there own comfort....

What a nice place to recover from a 26 hour voyage to Tanzania. The grounds are lush; the monkeys were in the trees waiting for us; the staff was lovely and helpful.... The rooms are beautiful - showers leave a bit to be desired - but not unexpected. There is hot water (though a bit tough to regulate) and water pressure isn't spectacular, but all things considered, a lovely place to stay. Highly recommeded!

Peaceful lodge in a beautiful place. Surrounded by ancient forest and a picturesque dam.
The fishing was poor though (small fry) I think 'global warming' has affected the conditions for trout. Very helpful staff, friendly too. Intimidating hounds bark at guests.
Nice huge well thought rooms with lovely garden views. Very relaxing with the beautiful and endangered colobus monkeys an extra bonus. Nice pool (a bit chilly though).
Excellent food, well made with organic, locally grown ingredients

Situated a little out of Arusha but well placed for a visit to Arusha National Park. Wifi was non-existent while we were there, but everything else wonderful. Service was very friendly, the grounds were breathtakingly beautiful, and the lodge itself is picture-perfect. The rooms were huge and full of traditional character. Plenty of space to take a walk along the river, explore and watch the inquisitive monkeys.
