Its always nice to go somewhere where your expectations are beat. This is a hotel that does that in terms of design and attention to detail. I stayed in the Regency Room and it was by far one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in. The size of the room was good, very airy and light. The extra details, which the owner had put in shows truly that they understand the need of their guests and everything had been thought of. Their website is good, but does not show off the rooms to their best advantage. I went to have a look at all the other rooms and all had a unique design and the attention to detail which was a pleasure to see. What a gem, congratulations to the owner for their work and keeping a high standard throughout the hotel and restaurant. If you like the best this world has to offer, then you must stay here.

I stayed at the Bay Leaf Hotel on a recent busiuness trip to Arusha.
The hotel was booked by our client and I have to say we were pleasantly suprised when we arrived at the hotel.
The staff were attentive and very welcoming.
The rooms are so well thought out and the attention to detail is flawless.
I stayed in the black & white suite. It is incredibly spacious and I was really impressed with the mens toiletry range.
Everything from Shaving gel, mens moisturiser, insect repellant cream, body scrub and many more.
The food in their restaurant is on par with any internationally acclaimed restaurant.
The presentation was current with international trends and the menu innovative.
This place is not for those that count their pennies.
It is pricey, but you get what you pay for: Quality through and through.
Would I return? For sure.

I stayed at the Bay Leaf for the first night on a two week safari. I arrived very late after a delayed flight and was happy to see that the hotel is in a quiet part of the town on a side street in a beautiful garden. My room was a large suite with a rain shower, A/C, TV, a large king size bed, and WiFi internet. Even though it was almost midnight when I checked in, the kitchen still offered the full dinner menu and I enjoyed a delicious meal at a reasonable price. I left for Tarangire NP the next morning after a very nice breakfast in the garden under the Jacaranda trees.
The hotel was really too nice to spend only a few hours and I can recommend it for anyone who wants to spend a couple nights in great comfort in Arusha, away from the noise. It's true that the hotel is pricey but I found that the quality of the hotel is worth the price.

The Bay Leaf is a great boutique Hotel near the centre of Arusha. It has an excellent restaurant and a very nice ambience. But note that these people only take Mastercard or cash. No Visa or Amex!!! Derrrrr. It's the 21st centrury guys......wake up. You can't run a 4 star boutique Hotel and only take one kind of credit card. Well not if you want regular business.

This place is beautifully appointed, carefully maintained, and very comfortable. The restaurant alone should make the decision for you. It's the best you're likely to find in Arusha -- and breakfast is included. (Trust me, you're not going to want to cab around to restaurants.) But there's something you're really going to appreciate about the Bay Leaf that you won't realize until you're leaving: It has none of those faux-African touches you'll find all over the other high-end hotels in town. (I'm looking at you Kibo and African Tulip.) There's no giant wooden giraffes, no fake leopard skin chairs, no staff dressed up in ridiculous dashikis that no one outside the tourism industry wears. Just a mellow, classy vibe that's a welcome respite from the "hakuna matata" simulacrum being peddled all over the safari circuit.

Bay Leaf is an amazing restaurant with excellent food choices. Highly recommended place to eat in Arusha. The menu changes every month which keeps it exciting and interesting.
The rooms are beautifully finished with attention to detail which is remarkable. The quality of Bay Leaf has yet to be matched by any other hotel I have stayed in.
