After 24 hours of travel, and a short drive from Kilimanjaro airport, the oasis of the African Tulip was a very welcome sight! We were treated like we were the only guests in the hotel, giving us our room keys before we even checked in so that we could get settled and relaxed. The rooms were very comfortable... bed and breakfast like. Our breakfast the next morning was excellent, and prepared us for our first day of Safari. Only stayed one night but loved every minute. The style felt like an African Safari Lodge and the service was on point without exception. We enjoyed an afternoon beside the cute swimming pool and later had dinner in the restaurant which was buffet style. Our room was large, quiet and fully equipped with every convenience a traveller needs. The bed was very comfortable.
I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay again.
Spent one night here as the landing spot before the start of our safari. Comfortable hotel but nothing fancy, feels like a 3 star hotel by international standards. Friendly, attentive service. Huge room with balcony. Interesting restaurant with a menu that inspires but the delivery falls a bit short. The food at dinner was kind of bland, but the breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of tasty food. Nice secluded swimming pool with an adjacent bar made for a welcome rest area following our long trip from home.
Really nice hotel, just outside the city centre of Arusha. The room we stay was quite beautiful and had the African touch (furniture, paintings, etc) we were expecting. The hotel and the restaurant staff are kind, professional and attentive.
The food at the restaurant is quite nice and so is the breakfast! A beautiful swimming pool and cocktail bar next to it, added to our very nice experience.
Amazing hotel, friendly and helpful staff (All requests carried out quickly and with a smile - nothing asked for was to much) Comfortable rooms with lovely views. The hotel itself had beautiful grounds and it was situated in a lovely location not to far away from the main shopping area in Arusha. Food wise All catering needs met and the chefs were very accommodating . Highly recommended if visiting Arusha. The hotel owner Sanjay made sure we were looked after properly from day 1 of our stay until we left.
My husband and I had an amazing camping safari but were totally ready to change things up for the comfort and conveniences of a modern hotel. Our only complaint – we would have loved to stay longer than one night!
The African Tulip is a top-rated ‘boutique hotel’ in Arusha, and justly so. If you’re looking for an attractive, immaculate and safe modern hotel with western standards, fantastic African hospitality and top (but not over-the-top) service and facilities, then this is a perfect choice.
The lobby and staff are welcoming, warm and professional. The pool and pool bar area are intimate and tastefully tucked into the hotel gardens. The Zanzibar Lounge lobby bar is welcoming and interestingly decorated with local items and antiques. The Baobab Restaurant served up a delicious dinner and sumptuous breakfast buffet, and we were again attended to by the hotel’s excellent staff.
We loved the safari and wildlife décor that’s carried through the hotel with over-sized wildlife photographs, African art, wooden items and animal print fabrics – beautifully done. The décor continues into the spacious hotel rooms and they’re exactly as you would hope for a hotel of this caliber, beautifully appointed and supremely comfortable. The hotel manager kindly upgraded us to a room with an expansive verandah, a great spot for coffee or wine, reading or yoga… we can vouch for all of the above.
