We celebrated our 10 years wedding anniversary in Tanzania in a safari organised by Duma Explorer. And what a trip it was. From the very professional set up facilitated by Stacy (the lady in the office with prompt and short replies, no pushy sell talks, just facts and great infomation) our trip was delivered with out-most style, organisational efficiency and incredible knowledge by Isack Msuya (our guide).

Duma helped us organize a private safari with customized route and accommodation, following the traditional Arusha->Tarangire->Lake Manyara->Ngorongoro->Central and North Serengeti route, finishing at the Kenyan border and flying back to Arusha for our international flight. And we were not disappointed: seeing the big five, the incredible bird-life and meeting always-smiling and friendly locals and finishing up in the middle of the Great Wildebeest migration it was a trip of a lifetime.

This company is recommended not just because of their excellent delivery but in particular because of their respect for nature and sustainability. Isack Msuya (our guide and friend) is a wildlife expert, who made our trip a real pleasure by switching OFF his radio, by NOT chasing the wildlife (like several high profile companies we saw in the field). Instead he talked to us, showed us hidden and less beaten tracks, helped us understand the balance in this fragile environment and how can we humans better respect nature around us. Although this might sound a bit risky for most travelers spending a fair amount of $ on a safari, this way we got to see the big five ... in one day, before 2PM.

Isack, Stacy and Duma: a big Thank You!

I researched MANY companies before choosing Duma, as this is a huge decision (and leap of faith). However, I'm so glad I went with Duma! They were a great company to work with. We chose a 5-day tented lodge safari in Tanzania, and couldn't have been happier - 5 days was perfect for us! Kawaga was our guide, and he was absolutely fantastic. He knew all the animals, and had an uncanny knack for spotting animals in the distance while driving. We saw many lions (males, females, and cubs), even some cheetahs and leopards. Everything we hoped for!

Some bumpy roads, but he handled it well and we felt really safe in the car at all times.

Stacy was easy to work with - always quick to reply, informative, and helpful. To be honest, though, she was a bit "short" in her email communication: other companies really tried to "sell" their services. I am only noting this because I'm big on email etiquette, so do NOT let this discourage you from choosing Duma. Email communication is no indication of the overall professionalism, expertise, and experience that Duma provides. Without a doubt, I would choose Duma again!

Thanks Stacy and Kawaga!

We chose Duma Explorer for our Tanzanian safari mainly because of many excellent reviews on Trip Advisor, and it definitely proved to be the right choice. When we were planning the trip, Stacy was extremely helpful and prompt in suggesting how we could best achieve what we wanted on our safari, and on the safari itself, everything went perfectly. We find it hard to imagine that there can be a better guide in Tanzania than our guide (Ebenzer), for he was fantastic in every sense. In summary, we have no hesitation whatsoever in very highly recommending Duma Explorer.

I did a lot of research on safaris before booking our vacations and Duma was priced right, had a good reputation, and Stacy (the owner) made it easy to book. She really helped us customize our safari based on what we wanted to see. When we landed Safuni (our guide) was there to pick us up from the airport and we knew right away how lucky we were for booking with Duma. He was so personable and knowledgeable about the animals, land, and people. He really made our safari special and fun. It was such a great experience!!!!!

We recently returned from our safari with Duma Explorers and only have positives to say about them. From the office end, they are very well organized and prompt with responses. And while on safari, we were extremely well looked after by our guide, Sifuni. He was such a safe driver, and very knowledgable about the region and the animals. We also had great food courtesy of our cook, Godson. I highly recommend this company!
