In November 2019 we did a 7 day camping safari tour with Shemeji and it was an amazing experience! We visited Tarangire park, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro crater, Serengeti and lake Natron. The days and nights in Serengeti were very special and we really enjoyed the beautiful nature and the many different animals we saw here. Sele was a great guide who spotted many animals and taught us a lot about the animals and their behaviour, his knowledge was impressive. We really liked that we did not have to hurry and could observe the animals for a longer time. We were also very thankful for our cook Godson who prepared delicious meals and also looked for animals when driving between the parks. The drive from the north of Serengeti to lake Natron is quite long since the road is very bad, so I would recommend to only visit lake Natron when you can spend a bit more time there. The campsites were all good and we enjoyed the walking tours and visit of the Maasai village. For us it was a memorable experience and we highly recommend Shemeji for doing a safari tour. Thank you very much!

We (two couples from Germany) booked the 6-day midrange tented lodge Safari with Shemeji Safari in early November 2019. The route was Tarangire (day 1), Lake Manyara (day 2), Serengeti (day 3-5) and Ngorongoro Crater (day 6) and it couldn’t have been better:

Already through the whole decision and booking process the Shemeji team replied to our emails quickly and answered all our questions comprehensively, which gave us a good feeling right from the start. Along with all the great reviews online this made the decision to book the Safari with Shemeji very easy for us.

During the six days of our trip we had a great time with our guide Andrew, who was very friendly, funny and patient, knows everything about the wildlife and has the eyes of an eagle to spot them. He was able to find any animal from incredibly far away and could answer all our many questions. We felt absolutely safe with Andrew who is a very good and experienced driver. Many other tour companies drove extremely fast and unsafe and we were wondering how they can spot anything like that. Andrew always found the best position to park our car so we had the best view on the animals and got many incredible pictures. Even the two of our group who had done a Safari before said that they never imagined to see so many animals in such a short time and so close.

We saw all the big five, most of them from a very short distance and more than once. Only the leopards were very well hidden in a tree and the rhinos were quite far away. But most animals were so close to the car that we could nearly have touched them: lions, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, gazelles, hippos, ostriches, hyenas, wildebeests, zebras ... many of them even had babies and we were able to watch lions eat a couple of times.

The accommodations were all very comfortable, clean and beautiful, and the staff was charming everywhere. We had a particularly good time in Asili Camps Serengeti where we were the only guests and the team really welcomed us and cared for us with exceptional warmth.

The breakfasts and dinners were delicious everywhere and even I as a vegetarian could always find a good choice.
The lunch boxes were ok, for our taste they contained a bit too much “dough” (bread, pancakes, cookies...) and too little fruit or vegetables, but when we asked the staff in the hotels they responded to our requests and put in more fresh stuff.

We can only recommend you to book your Safari with Shemeji and Andrew as your Guide - special thanks to him again for this awesome experience!

This was undoubtedly one of my most unforgettable trips, where I could live one of the most emotional experiences of my entire existence.

We traveled dirt roads with incredible trees that all the time made me think that being one of those NatGeo documentaries, was impressive.

I never saw so many wild animals in my life and the happiness of seeing them free with such splendor filled my eyes with tears. I felt more alive than ever. Also because I don't like zoos and see those sad animals.

This is one of the experiences that all people should be able to live, the magnificent view of all wildlife living in freedom, interacting.

You should not miss this natural spectacle.

We went with the 5-day tented lodging safari with Shemeji which took us to Tarangire NP, Lake Manyara NP, Ngorongoro crater, and the Serengeti NP. It was unfreaking-believable! Very difficult to describe and put into words.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our time on the safari with our guide. This trip is literally out of the Lion King. Our guide/driver, Sele, was very knowledgeable, patient, friendly, funny, and able to spot wildlife from incredibly far away. He taught us the Swahili term for each animal, he knew the gestation period of basically every animal, and was able to answer all our questions that we asked and there were a lot. In addition, we never felt our safety was compromised. He was always conscious about our well being. We saw many other tour companies who drove dangerously fast and unsafe (in my opinion) during our safari. We never felt unsafe with Sele. He always asked if we wanted to stop for pictures and if the spot was good enough, (if the spot wasn’t good enough, he would predict where the animal was going and angle our jeep accordingly).

We were able to see the BIG FIVE and SO many other animals up close: elephants, gazelles, hippos, ostriches, hyenas, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, cheetahs, lions AND ALL OF THEIR BABIES. It was amazing to see how protective each species are with their young. One of the more memorable moments was to actually see a rhino up close, a very rare occurrence. We were also lucky enough to see a little cheetah hunt, VERY COOL…...and, and, and we got to see a pack of vultures attacking a carcass (unreal!).

The accommodations were all very comfortable and the staff very welcoming. The lunch boxes were filling and full of different snacks each day, the breakfasts and dinners were also delicious. Sele also brought along hot water in thermoses for our picnics during the day so that we could have a coffee and/or tea for lunch!

We cannot recommend Shemeji enough. Some would say this was a “once in a lifetime experience,'' however, we hope we will be able to experience this type of adventure again in the future!

Everything was great and the trip was smooth and without any complications, our guide (Adam) and cook (Daniel) were superb and very helpful. We saw plenty of wildlife and most of it very close. We recommend 7 day itinerary with lake natron.
