My husband and I stayed at the Outpost Lodge before and after our 5 day safari. The rooms are clean and spacious and the showers are hot, which was a nice change after the safari. It was too cold for the pool while we were there, but it was still a nice and relaxing space. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant isn't all that special, but the breakfast that is included in the room rate is quite nice. Arusha is mostly a stop-over city and Outpost Lodge is a good choice for passing through.

All things considered, the Outpost Lodge is a nice place to rest when you come back from several days of safari at a camp site. Nothing special to mention about the rooms, but he place is relatively quiet with clean rooms, a lot of green and a small swimming pool, there is an average price/quality ratio (the Indian food is worth trying). Not in the centre, but you can go anywhere in about 20mn by foot.
Internet access available in the restaurant, not in the rooms.

Room Tip: The new Block A rooms, in the backyard, are the most quiet !

We stayed at the Outpost two nights before climbing Kilimanjaro, one night after, and another night after safari. The Outpost Lodge is nothing terribly special, but it does make a convenient Arusha-base for Kilimanjaro and Safari.

Pros
- Internet access that is somewhat reliable, which is great to let friends and family you've made it back from the mountain!
- Bag check while on the mountain, so you can leave what you don't need safely behind. However, while on safari our extra clothes were stored in a sea container with a motorcycle and everything smelled like gasoline when we got it.
- Restaurant at the hotel is good and convenient when you are too tired and sore to leave the premises. Also have a nice coffee cafe with great hot drinks for chilly Tanzanian nights.
- Next door to Roy's Safari's and Barclays Bank and easy walking distance to Arusha.
- Overall a very quiet street for being so close to Arusha

Cons
- Not all of the rooms are the same, but they are the same price. The rooms in the main part of the hotel seem to be much nicer than rooms in the annex.
- Their are 1/2 dozen dogs that live next door and the first night they barked all night. Not the hotels fault, but definitely disturbed our sleep.
- No water one morning and no electricity one evening, may not be atypical for Arusha though
-

Room Tip: The rooms in the main building seemed nicer. We liked both A3 & A4. A1 & A2 in the annex are noiser since they are single story and you can hear everything on the tin roof at night.

Our family stayed in two rooms at the Outpost Lodge for 2 nights in early July. Although the front desk did not have our reservation (arrangements were made through a 3rd party), they accommodated us in two bungalows.

The rooms were comfortable and the property grounds were pleasant.

Food and service at the restaurant were fine.

I would recommend this property to someone traveling through Arusah.

Room Tip: Bungalows are nice, but guests coming in late to nearby rooms can be noisy.

Our family stayed in tow rooms at the OPL, upon arriving in Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. The breakfast that is included with the stay is very nice, eggs, toast, juice, fruit and coffee. All of the fruit is peeled fruit. Breakfast is served buffet style and the eggs are cooked for you.

The rooms are nice sized. Keep in mind that the comparison is to other properties in the area, not US or EU properties. Issues with electricity are to be expected and are common in the area. Fortunately we had none. Wi fi was available in the common areas. The bathrooms have flushing toilets, but remember not to flush the paper. The shower is large and tiled. There is an armoire in each room to hang clothes and there are hangers. The linens on the bed were fresh. The towels were small and not very soft, but most importantly they were clean. The room had a hot pot so you may boil and purify water if you choose. We did so and added chlorine drops that we travel with. We had no issues with the water we purified. The place is secure and you will safe.

Staff will dissuade you from walking anywhere outside of the complex. It is a way from town, so they would prefer that you went with a guide rather than striking it out on your own.

The food in the Cafe mambo restaurant on property is good, especially the chicken tikamasala.

The pool is nice and is good for a quick dip or is you have a stationary swimming device like I do, it is perfect.

Room Tip: Ask to be on the interior rooms.
