Stay here before and after Kilimanjaro trek. Can get busy when the bigger tours get in, whichs tends to overwhelm the restaurant staff more than anyone else. Speaking of the restaurant the menu is changing and slowly improving. Rooms are varied in qaulity with the newer in the brick building better than the rest especially in soundproofing from your noisy neighbors. Don't get ripped off from where the bus drop you off should be about 3 to 5 dollars taxi ride to the hotel

We began and ended our safari here. It was a basic lodging but in a pretty area. Rooms are modest as is the bathroom. The food for dinner was excellent - we especially loved the zucchini soup and sizzling beef. It seemed okay to begin our safari but after having stayed in other lodges, etc. we realized this was very basic. Exchange rates for dollar lower than other places so use schillings if you have them. Breakfast was fairly standard with omelets to order, fruit, juice, coffee, tea.

Great place to stay before and after climbing Kilimanjaro. It's a nice place just to chill out beside the pool, especailly in the evenings when there isn't much else to do, and a good place to" retreat" to from the bustle of the city. The staff are very helpful and take great care over the storage of luggage and especially valuables.

Stayed here for a couple of nights between a safari and flying to Zanzibar. The Outpost lodge is a charming place in a great, leafy setting with a very decent, reasonably priced café serving cold beer. It is far enough away from the smell, noise and general unpleasantness of Arusha to feel removed and yet close enough to walk in to town should you have to go. Room wise, we stayed in a garden bungalow round the back (which was fine) but I would advise getting a room in the block behind the café area as there look to have been newly renovated. The lodge organized our transport to tiny Arusha airport at the end of our stay and getting a Zanair flight from Aursha to Zanzibar in a small, one propeller plane was great fun – sat right behind the pilot, interesting to watch.
