It came recommended by the hotel we stayed in at Taichung and since the kids were all Japanese food fans, we decided to try out the Japenese grill. We were not disappointed because the meats ranging from sirloin, ribs and tenderloin to fish and other seafood were extremely fresh. I was impressed with the sophisticated exhaust system the restaurant had installed at each table so we didn't go home smelling of barbecue! One could order a shabu if you wanted but this paled in comparison to the grill-it-yourself spread that was on offer. Total cost for the humongous amount of food we ordered was pretty reasonable (cheap by Singapore standards) so well worth the dollar you pay.
