Arrived here during the night of 7th Nov. Came because it is a part of CTC tour package. The lobby of the hotel looks grand and the staff was quite helpful. My family got arranged for rooms 1420 and 1421 on the 14th floor, which is the highest floor level of the hotel. Got the 1420 room. The room I got was larger by a little bit as the room was the last one and it is at the edge. The bathroom is large and spacious too and it has a separate bathtub and shower area. The room also have a 37inch TV with some cable shows like HBO. LAN Internet access is available and LAN cable is provided. The room itself supposingly doesn't have free WiFi access but in some way a free WiFi network of the hotel managed to get into our room and it was a pleasant surprise since it was stated that rooms doesn't have free WiFi access. The beds were a queen-sized bed.
Breakfast at the hotel was also quite a variety with many sorts of different food. It also has a corner where it houses vegetarian foods too. The only thing is that the waiters are quite limited and thus service may not be so good then.
Overall the hotel gave us a pleasant experience and the overall quality was good.

Room Tip: Choose rooms that are higher in floors to have a better view.

I stayed a night in this hotel in July 2013. The hotel is located in downtown Taichung with a park in the front. At night many local perople are here.

The rooms have double windows and its very calm to sleep.

The hotel offers terrific service, is very clean. Breatfast is superb and leaves no wish open. When you come to Taichung I highly recommend this hotel.

It also offers sefveral restaurants to eat with very resonable pricing and good quality.

Room Tip: Stay high up to have a great view on the city. I stayed on floor 10.

From a previous visit to Taichung we had already decided to try this hotel on our next trip. Taking advantage of a special weekend offer which included breakfast with either lunch or dinner we spent three nights at the National. Our check-in was friendly and efficient. The room was large with two double beds - everything was clean and tidy. We enjoyed the stay very much, the meals were excellent especially Sunday buffet lunch in the Chinese restaurant. The location of the hotel couldn't be better to get around on foot or by public transport. The staff did their utmost to provide good service. To top it all we were allowed a late check-out for one and a half hours which was given with a smile ( take note Hotel Splendor!!)
Thanks for a nice weekend, we will return.

I've come to this hotel many times in the last 15 years. There is a whole section of the hotel demolished now, only the modern remains. We had a room on top floor, very big with seperate office space. Unfortunately only one tiny window which makes it quite dark. Bathroom is excellent. Wired internet in the room is a bother with a tablet/smartphone. You can pick up a tiny wireless router for 300 NT$ at Nova, that solved the problem.
Breakfast is magnificent if you like Chinese, western style is very limited. Bacon was never crisp unfortunately.
For the price (3000 NT$ for double business room) this is cheap.
Location is fantastic since you're in the green park in the city centre. This really is the reason why we stayed here.
Service at the front desk was impeccable.

My first visit to this hotel gave me a good impression. The receptionists were friendly and check-in and check-out were quick and efficient. As were the bell boys and welcoming staff at the main door.
It seems that the old portion of the hotel has now been demolished, so I was happy with my room. As already commented on, the lighting in the rooms could be improved. My main gripe is that the inside sliding windows rattled every time there was a breath of wind or whenever someone in another room closes their door !
The breakfast buffet was enjoyable. I didn't visit the cafe or restaurants, as I like the food available in the vicinity of the hotel.

The hotel is probably undergoing a major renovation exercise. When you make a booking with this hotel, make sure that the room you pay for is in A Building. We stayed in a triple room in A Building for 2 nights. The room is spacious, but the bathroom is unproportionally small. The bathroom fitting-out and the facilities are rather old. The lighting of the room is also not enough. The hotel provided free internet connection, but the socket for the broadband connection is unreasonably located near the floor. The largest advantage of this hotel is its location. Very strategically located, within short walking distance to Sogo Department Store, the Natural Histroy Museum, and the Eslite Bookstore. The cafe is cosy, and the buffet breakfast is good. Yet I do believe that you can have a better choice for the price charged by this hotel in Taichung.
