If you want to have a taste of the best choices of oolong tea in Taiwan, served according to the traditional Taiwanese tea ceremony, you cannot miss this gem in Taichung. For us, this place was alone worth the trip from Taipei to Taichung.
This tea house is an old, very well preserved wooden building, packed with ancient furniture and managed by friendly, professional staff.
We sat in front of the pond, where beautiful carps are showing off their colors, in an authentic and elegant atmosphere.
It is a little pricey (about 500 NTD per person), but the quality of the service (a person prepares the tea for you and teaches you how to enjoy it) and of the tea served is definitely worth.
I live in Japan - I know very well that many of this kind of places are just traps for tourists. This is definitely not: it's rather an opportunity to better understand a piece of world culture. Highly recommended.
