“A good and convenient hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

We, a family with two kids, stayed here for the last night on our trip to Taiwan in August.

We had chosen the 'design' room expecting some modern, fun-filled decorations and features. We were disappointed and thought they might have given us a standard room by mistake because there was not much 'design'. But the personnel in the lobby confirmed to us that this room was indeed the right room and the only one in the hotel. It had been renovated just 3 months ago.

Besides the mis-match of expectation above, the room itself is nice and comfortable (but not as big as I wish for a 4-person room). The window opens to a good view of the city. We didn't use many of the facilities (there is a swimming pool which is quite rare in the city) but just the restuarant. The buffet breakfast was resonably priced but the food choices are limited. They don't serve any eggs to my surprise. Not very suitable for westerners I guess. No good coffee either. Internet fixed access in room. Wifi only in the lobby.

In short, it is just okay.

Room Tip: Avoid the design room - not much different

The hotel is very nice with many amenities. The bathroom offers the typical combination toilet/bidet.

Within walking distance is a supermarket offering most everything you want. There is a lot of traffic on the street so try to secure a room at the back of the hotel. Free wi-fi is available to guests. The lobby is quite large and inviting. There are several meeting rooms available for conferences.

The hotel is okay and very near to the MRT. Not much to choose from the breakfast buffet but refilled quickly. The room is a bit old fashioned. It is almost impossible for my 4-year old boy to take a bath with a higher shower above. Maybe the room is in the old building and that's why it is not expensive.

Thumbs up for:
1. Chic-looking rooms that are modern, stylish and well-maintained.
2. Friendly and helpful staff who provide you with the highest level of service and assistance.
3. Prime location in which the MRT is only 5 minutes of walking distance from the hotel.

All in all, a perfect hotel which comes with full 5-star facilities and amenities, not forgetting their 5-star service too! Book their rooms on the new wing and choose from the different themes on offer!

The hotel was recently renovated and is stylish from the reception to the rooms. The business centre was just opposite our room and had coffee/tea maker, nice sofa and a couple of PCs. The free wifi didnt work in our room unfortunately. The aircon sort of leaked and the carpet near the window was consistantly wet through our 3N stay. The bathroom has a bathtub/shower and separated by curtain. The shower head was fixed too high and I am not able to shower without holding the showerhead in my hands, the fact is that Im not exactly short at 1.58m. Water from the bath room tends to splatter and wet the floor no matter how careful we were. The tap at the wash basin was of an equally lousy design which splashes water everytime we use. They had a huge pool on ground level. There is a high school just across the street and is near the riverside parks. There is a nice eating place just 3mins away from the hotel serving noodles and dumplings at an unbelievably low price. We had our lunch once at a mere NT105 comprising of a big bowl of noodles, 12 pieces of dumpings and drinks. The streets are kind of quiet with little traffic.

The holiday garden hotel was nice, clean, modern -pretty much ideal. The only thing that was a slight problem was that the staff didn't really speak much english -this was fine at check in but was problematic trying to order room service! I ended up having to go down to the lobby to point at what I wanted in the menu. The breakfast (which is included in the room price) was also a chinese breakfast which I found a bit hard to stomach -would have liked to have a plain western option like cereal.

But if you like Chinese food for breakfast, and dont mind a few language difficilties then I would absolutely recommend this hotel.
