“Colorful and vibrant MRT station - check out the stores outside”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

This is the biggest transfer MRT station in Kaohsiung where the orange and the red line intercepts. Sometimes, you can catch some carols or Flea market in the weekends to see what it the Taiwanese version of the flea market. :) It is the biggest circular structure station and please do get out of the station to have a look at the entrance/exit structure as it was designed to symbolise the 'praying' with two hands closed for world peace.

I love to explore the shops within different station exits - some of the jewelry shop are truly fun to check it out... one of the smaller silver jeweler was making his own designs and it was really interesting and each piece is slightly different.

If you come out of one of the exit from this station, you could also find a very tasty Taiwanese version of the spring roll - very tasty and experience how the local eats. ^_^

Every MRT stations in Kaohsiung has a bathroom facility which is a lifesaver for traveler at the time when you can't find a toilet. :)

“Nothing much”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

The Dome of Light is nothing much but it may be worth a visit only if you intend to transit using the metro. Some people were carolling in the dome. Quite a nice experience.

We were staying at T Hotel, and so The Dome of Light was just a short walk away. The dome is very colorful and makes for great pictures!

“The nicest MRT station ever!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

This is the beautiful artwork at the Formosa KMRT station. This is the cross over station for the 2 lines in Kaohsiung and the one you use for Liuhe Night Market, so you're bound to get off here if your in Kaohsiung.
It's was done by an Italian Artist and really is very beautiful.

“Dazzling Dome that Mesmerizes Your Emotions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

The Dome of Light really makes the Formosa Boulevard Station a really unique station in Kaohsiung (or even Taiwan). To see the artwork, I especially took time to get off the MRT for a glimpse of this landmark.

Again, once you exit the MRT gate (the exit I use led to one of the hallways, so there’s a little distance to go), you can just ask anyone you see and they’ll probably point you in the right direction.

As you can see, the not-so-tall walkway immediately opens up to a huge chamber as you approach the dome area. You know you’re getting there when you see those two gigantic pillars.

Depending on how you feel, you can spend quite a while examining the details of the art piece (I was too busily trying to take pictures).

If you’re lucky, there might be a street performer or two entertaining the audience in the area.
