“Very Beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

We took a private tour and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Went to many of the famous sights and really enjoyed the beautiful views of the gorges and the cliffs.

Do not expect huge waterfalls (not like Niagara falls) or large gorges. Though beautiful, the scenery here is "of smaller in scale". Go with the right expectation and you won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately, I was traveling with young children and they were not able to appreciate the nature so well and long hiking trails were a bit tiring for them. Take your time in exploring the place. We felt that we rushed a little at each sight (as we were traveling with young children and old folks who couldn't do much walking). Wouldn't mind going back again and this time, pick a few nice, long trails to explore the place further.

“Not enough for day trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

The view is really amazing anywhere from this national park, if you like hiking, do a lot of research, there will be a lot of trail that you can go, for sure i will get back here to spend more days.

The access to the place also very convenient, you can go with daily tour (heaps), rent a taxi (around 2500 - 3000 NT for about 8 hours), bike, or scooter. I went there with taxi and the taxi driver was amazing, with a lot of knowledge, and very polite as well.

I wouldn't say much for this place, obviously, the place very famous, and hard to describe this place with words :)

Nature at its gorgeous best. Spectacular landscape and rocks, clean water. Hard to describe. You've got to see it and experience it.

“Maybe the most beautiful place I've been to”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

What an amazing place! Absolutely beautiful! There's no words to describe its beauty. It's simply breathtaking! (Enough praises already? :)

I spent 1.5 days there. The first day (afternoon) I biked from Xincheng to the start of Shakadang trail and walked around 1.5km and back. Then I biked to the temple at the end of the Eternal Spring Shrine trail and hiked to Guanyin Cave/vantage point. There's a cool suspension bridge and great views from the trail itself and also from the Bell Tower and Taroko Tower too.

The next day my host drove me and bike to the start of the Lianhou Pond trail which is about 5km upwards from Tiansiang town. Yet again fantastic views (what else would expect!?).

Then I took it easy and biked downhill all the way to Xincheng making stops every now and then and did some hikes.

I believe this (or with a scooter) must be the best way to see Taroko! You can do, see and hike
whatever you want to do/hike at your own pace. You can also get away from the crowds and go to places where the tour buses don't stop.

If you're interested in biking in Taroko' I'd suggest you to stay at the Taroko Lodge in Xincheng (I think most trains stop there, it's the "Taroko station").

“Highlight of the East coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

This is a really impressive gorge. In this time of the year looking beautiful and not too overloaded with tourist. It is easy to go by own car or scooter. Parking at the main points of interest is easy. Difficult to describe the immenseness. Need to experience yourself.
