What a beautiful, peaceful, impeccably clean and thoroughly relaxing personal guesthouse. A short walk from the beach and the local bars and restaurants of Ethukala, or a 5 minute tuk-tuk ride with Dean, the driver of choice, to the market, shops and harbour of downtown Negum-city. The hospitality and enthusiasm of Brenda and Ron is superb. I can't recommend this place highly enough if you're looking for a relaxing stopover or base for further adventures around Sri Lanka. Simply superb...

I stayed at The Ayubowen in March at the end of my trip to Sri Lanka. All the reviews are spot on.

The guesthouse is lovely and peaceful. Ron and Brenda are amazing and make you feel right at home and are a wealth of knowledge on Sri Lanka. The gardens are lovely to chill out in and the pool is perfect. Its a short walk to the restaurants and bars and beach.

Choice of continental or full english breakfasts.

I stayed in room 3 at the front with doors onto the garden. It was lovely.

I would recommend the guesthouse to anyone, but especially if you are looking for somewhere close to the airport.

A real treat!

This was my second time in the Ayubowan Guesthouse and I can' t wait to go back! Ron and Brenda are charming guests who will take a great care of you. This place has it all - lovely rooms, beatiful garden, nice swimming pool, tasty breakfast and easy 5min walk to the beach, bars and restaurants. But make sure you eat at least once in the Guesthouse as Ron makes the most delicious evening meals! Simply the best place to stay in Negombo.

Ron and Brenda are lovely people who run a great guesthouse. You'll feel at home inmediately! Nicely decorated and very clean rooms with fan and AC, and not to forget the superb garden and pool. You can eat a lovely home made dinner, with my favourite curries! And in 5 min walk you are at the beach. I also booked short and 3 day tours with them, and the driver Ashanka was a great english speaking guy who showed the best places in Sri Lanka and made it a trip to never forget. Overall: you won't regret your stay in Ayubowan! Cheers, Anke

This wonderful guesthouse, owned by the british couple Ron and Brenda, is a perfect place to stay for the first/last nights in Sri lanka. It is situated about 15-20 minutes from the airport and the owners will come and pick you up at the airport (for a fee) at any time of the day. We were picked up at the airport in the middle of the night, which was very convenient and felt safe.

The house is of superb standard, with new colonial looking furniture. Our room and bathroom was spotlessly clean.

The garden was sooo beautiful and had a lovely pool where the owners' charming dog Annie played with us.

The owners helped us arrange a driver and we were very pleased with him. His name is Ranjit (we could help you get in contact with him).

The breakfast was very good but there is no restaurant at the guesthouse. You have to walk (or take a tuk-tuk) to Negombo beach area to find the restaurants. It is maybe a 5-10 minutes walk to the restaurants, shops and the beach.

In short: if you want a beautiful and clean place to stay and relax for a few days, this is the place to do it! This was clearly one of the best hotels (if not the best) we stayed at in our two week trip around the island.

Such a wonderful haven of peace and lush luxury for a traveller to rest in. Handy to the airport, and reasonably close to Colombo, it’s a perfect place to begin a Sri Lanka holiday. Ron and Brenda take incredible care to ensure your needs will be met, and one quickly feels at home. With a sparkling pool, always kept clean, and the garden and veranda designed with various nooks, tables and couches, you are able to be together or alone as you choose. The guest house and gardens are immaculate, clean, and comfortable. We loved it and will come back on our next trip to Sri Lanka.
