We chose Serendib Guest House based on Trip Advisor good reviews, and we were not disappointed at all. Hilary, the Scottish owner, has done a lovely guest house with clean bedrooms and toilets. Bed could be a little bit comfier, specially if you are more than 6 ft height. Breakfast was awesome. I loved the Hamilton pig guarding the pool!
Indika, the driver, came to collect us to the airport at 1.30 am and we chose him for the cultural triangle tour. He was our driver for 4 days and he was very attentive, punctual and welcoming. His English is not very good, so he is not an option if you are looking for a guide, but for us it was perfect as we only wanted a driver. He was a very good driver, very safe and helpful.

Well the title says it all. This was def the best guesthouse we stayed in, best value for money, and most friendly hosts.
Too bad we were only there for one night. I'd definitely stay here again if I were to go back to Sri Lanka.

Very friendly english woman and a Sri Lankan guy run this three rooms guesthouse. Ask for the Sri Lankan outrageous breakfast!! It has a swimming pool and nice dogs.... a bit away from where the action is but you can walk to some restaurants or else take a tuctuc to the railway station (Rs 250), airport pick up was 2000 and a room without AC was 3000. Best deal for our money on our complete three weeks in Sri Lanka.

We stayed in this hotel on our last night in Sri Lanka. The place was very hard to find for the tuktuk driver, but after some telephone contact with the owner we finally arrived.
The house is stunning and the service is great. The breakfast is also really good. We needed a taxi to the airport, the driver needed to pick up somebody at the airport and therefore we could join the taxi for only 500 rupees.
We would definitely recommend this Negomby and this lovely guesthouse.

I chose the Serendib because of other TripAdvisor reviews. We stayed for 3 nights on arrival in Sri Lanka, a further 2 nights in the middle, then went back for to collect our cases and do a quick change of clothes before the flight back.

As for a review, let me put it as clearly and succinctly as I can: the Serendib is one of the best places we have ever stayed, anywhere in the world. We have stayed in 5-star hotels and, believe me, the service here was a match for any.

Buddika was the perfect host - Hilary was away so he looked after us for both our stays and offered us his room to shower and change before our return to the UK, as all 3 guest rooms were taken. That was just one example of his hospitality. The staff were also very friendly. Oh yes, Fergus & Cleo (the dogs) made us feel we were at home!

I could go on about the pool, or the large & clean rooms, or the beautifully kept house itself, but for us Buddika was the real star!

I can't recommend the Serendib highly enough. Thanks, Buddika - hope you are using the keyring . . . . .

Room Tip: We had all 3 rooms for our stays, 1 upstairs and 2 downstairs - they were all fine.

I stayed at the Serendib guesthouse for the last night of my holiday in Sri Lanka. The room was large and very clean with a comfortable bed. The owners were very friendly and welcoming - I was travelling on my own and they offered me dinner and a drink with them in the garden when I arrived which was lovely. The breakfast was also very good - particularly the bacon! They also organised a tuk tuk to the airport for me which saved me a lot of hassle. I would definitely like to come back here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good value guesthouse near to the airport.

We spent the first 3 nights of our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka (July/August 2011) at Serendib Guest House. Hillary & Buddika arranged for their driver Indika to collect us from the airport at 12.15am. This was the best way to start our holiday as it was hassel free & Indika was lovely. Our room was large & very clean with a comfortable bed & pillows(we would soon discover this is a treat in Sri Lanka). We started to relax immediately. Breakfast is served outside whilst you enjoy the garden & pool. The 3 course breakfast was delicious & large! Buddika cooks the best omlette in Sri Lanka.
Hillary & Buddika are the most wonderful hosts, that after 2 days I didn't want to leave, I was so relaxed, the pool was heaven & the company was fantastic. Before we left we booked another 2 nights at the end of our trip. Knowing that we were coming back to friends & "home" was a lovely thought to have whilst travelling by motor bike for 3 weeks! Hillary & Buddika set very high standards for the rest of the trip & finding accomodation of this level at this price & with such wonderful & friendly service was very difficult. Infact we didn't find it anywhere else in Sri Lanka. If you would like to stay at Serendib guest House I recommend booking in advance as they are always busy. Hillary & Buddika, thank you for making our experince of Sri Lanka so special. If only you were closer we'd be there once a month for a weekend get away. We will be back for more chats & Arak, & pats with Cleo & Fergus.
