“All the comfortable, unpretentious style and sophistication that you wish your own home could have”

This hotel has a wonderfully comfortable and relaxed vibe, and oozes style. For instance, the sofas are chic, contemporary and beautifully designed but it's impossible to sit in them without wanting to take your shoes off and curl your feet up under you. And in this hotel you feel that it's absolutely fine to do that - that it's exactly what they want you to do.

The service is good; unintrusive but very obliging (we had them cheerfully moving heavy furniture so that cables would stretch from laptop to speakers), the food is unfussy but very good indeed. The wine is without question the best I drank in Sri Lanka in the space of several months. The management is readily available for queries and advice and will happily go out of their way to address any concerns or arrange transport etc.

The location is perfect for exploring Galle and the surrounding area; it's right in the middle of Galle Fort, which is scenic but quiet at night so you are guaranteed an uninterrupted night's sleep, and it's well located for trips inland or up the coast in either direction.

I loved this hotel; its the kind of place where you can relax and not worry about anything. It has all the class of a 5 star hotel and none of some hotels' slightly suffocating sense of having to be on your very best behaviour at all times. I'll be back.

The Fort Printers is in a great location within the fort. Rooms are stunning and have lovely views. The food and service exceeded our expectations and we were all treated like royalty during our stay.

Great restored old colonial building, huge rooms, clean, great staff. Nice location in Galle Fort - easy to explore the city. Food choices and quality were great. Rather small pool, but didn't detract from the place.

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Fort Printers for one night, during our two week holiday in Sri Lanka.

We stayed in the Geography Suite and absolutely loved it. It was almost like staying in a Phillip Starke Hotel here in London. It is very stylish and unique and was our favourite hotel out of all 8 we stayed in on our holiday.

The service is very personal and the hotel Manager did a very good job in welcoming us to the hotel.

We were also pleasantly suprised with the al fresco restaurant, a superb array of dishes with a Morroccan theme which was really welcomed.

There is a small pool which really suits the hotel and I honestly wish I could have stayed longer.

There is not much to do in Galle Fort but walk around the old streets and look at the Colonial buildings but this is the place to stay!

Thank you

Nyree and Jeremy

I and my wife stayed in this fabulous hotel just for 2 nights. I am a frequent traveler every where in the world, but this was the best hotel I have ever met in my life.
The beauty of the place is their superb service and the friendly management. The Manager is not only a manager but a very nice person.
We have spend a day at Frangipani Tree it is their sister hotel on the beach and it is also a hidden gem in a nice location.
We were not lucky to spend more days with them but defenetly will be back to enjoy both.

We stayed here on our honeymoon and it was with doubt one of our favourite hotels in Sri Lanka. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the pool area is beuatifully shaded and a great place to cool off the heat of Galle with a dip, and the rooms are great - loads of really cool furinture and places to relax. They even upgraded us to the master suite when we arrived! It's also really well located for exploring the fort. And if you get a chance, wander round the corner from the hotel and visit Fazal the Storyteller for a cup of cinnamon tea. It's delicious and he's a legend!

We stayed 2 nights at this unique boutique hotel and loved it upon arrival; our room was next to the pool and it was fabulous. Also the location is fantastic right in the heart of Galle Fort, you can walk everywhere. Also the dining and living room facilities are fantastic, very cosy indeed. Only issue was toilet was not flushing/working so we had to use next door pool toilet. It took 4 complaints to the management to get the problem fixed and over 24 hrs before it was fixed which was slightly irritating to say the least. There was also a problem with the shower pressure but we just put up with it as we did not have the energy to sort this one out as well. The service was very slow in the kitchen it took a long time for food to arrive.

Overall the hotel lacked good management and the level of service provided was not at the same standard as the accomodation. Upon arrival there was no explanation of the facilities offered by the hotel etc to us which was disappointing.

Probably 1 night in Galle Fort would be enough, we saw it all in a day easily and used the other day for relaxation that would be our only advice.

We are sorry that this guest had a less than perfect experience at The Fort Printers.

The problem with the toilet arose on a holiday weekend for which we had to wait until the next day to get the appropriate plumbing services.

We have taken the guests comments into account and have effected appropriate changes in staff and management which should restore our usual service level for which The Fort Printers continues to receive great reviews.
