Stayed at Lady Hill a week ago with a friend and the experience was awesome! The property is at the highest point in Galle and features a rooftop restaurant (Panorama Lounge), with breath taking views of the surrounding landscape. After receiving a very warm welcome from the reception staff, greeted traditionally with betel leaves, offered cold towels and very refreshing tamarind welcome drink, we were ushered through the colonial main building into a very modern room with futuristic decor and all the conveniences any traveller could hope for. Dinner at the restaurant was a superb affair with scrumptious cuisine, excellent service and a great selection of wines to enhance the meals.

We would heartily recommend this hotel to everybody and add if you have stayed in Galle and not at Lady Hill, you certainly have missed out on the best property in town.

Thanks to all the staff for making our stay memorable. Keep up the good work and all the very best from the bottom of our hearts.

We were disappointed with our accommodation at Lady Hill. The hotel looks beautiful upon arrival, however it didn’t offer much else unfortunately.

We had booked a double room only to receive two single beds pushed together with single linen on each.

In the evening we had heard to have a drink in the roof top bar, to enjoy the view. however they only offered beer and one type of wine, so we declined. Had we known we would’ve pushed spirits from the liquor shop in town to bring up.

For breakfast, the service was very slow and seemed to double handle the food between coming from the kitchen to placing on our tables, which made the food cold. We were also given mouldy toast, when we asked for more, the second lot was mouldy too! Thankfully the third time was fresh.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, unless standards were improved. Shame as it looks beautiful and has nice location on top of the hill overlooking Galle.

Stayed for two nights as part of a tour. Room 301 on third floor was very comfortable with view of Galle BUT end of block and internal walls had cracks showing daylight which were quite concerning! Restaurant on top floor (fourth) had even better views but was open-plan so no a/c just overhead fans. Menu the same both nights but had the best potato wedgies I have EVER tasted. Because of its situation there is winding road up to hotel and a tuk-tuk is recommended for return if you venture into the city. Hotel staff pleasant and welcoming BUT breakfast staff member was helping with luggage rather than taking breakfast order, which eventually arrived by dumb waiter.

We stayed one night at this hotel. Nice location in a hill will great views from the restaurant of Galle and the ocean. Distance to old city less than 2km that can be easily done walking. Room was nice and clean but strong smell to humidity plus the bath need to be updated and less claustrophobic; bath ceiling is too low and the shower looks more like a steam bath. Overall is a nice place to stay, staff is friendly but surprisingly for us in our room rate with breakfast included we needed to pay extra for our 6 years old kid breakfast because breakfast was only for 2 even though our booking was for a triple room, we paid more than 2000 rupiahs and he eat half of the breakfast, if we knew we would never order breakfast for him. Nice pool and beautiful old Dutch house from 1770.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments. However why the child's breakfast was charged was that even though we had allocated you into a triple room, your booking was for a double room. This entitles you to two breakfasts as part of your meal plan and the extra one is subject to invoicing.

We hope this clarifies the situation.

Best Regards,
Senaka De Silva
