“Walke arnd the wall”

Old Town of Galle and its Fortifications
Reviewed November 4, 2012

I usually go to old galle in the evening just before sun set. Is a unique experience to walke arnd the old town and after climb up to the wall and feel the sea breeze while walking around...if you are in Unawatuna or in Hikkadua is a nice short trip....have a walke...be inspired by the unique atmosphere and have a nice dinner in one of the restaurant in the old town !! I m sure you ll enjoy..

Thank shiama

You'll find the Fort packed with history and culture, as well as some charming shops (but expect to pay prices that match the location)

A walk around the ramparts at any time of day is lovely, but it's especially scenic at sunset / dusk

Even for a couple of hours. This is a must see for anyone visiting Sri Lanka.
One of the best places I have visited in Sri Lanka.
It is easy to reach there from Colombo with the new high way between Colombo and Galle.

I went with my bf & another couple of our friends on our way from Bentota to Yala, we stayed there for 2 hours .. The fort is a mixture between the Dutch & the British cultures, & it has everything you can think of! A church, a mosque, a temple, a court, houses, restaurants, etc .. It's said that it has the BEST sunset view in whole Sri Lanka .. I personally totally agree, although we left just a little bit before sunset, but I can not explain how AMAZING the view over the Indian ocean is! OMG :)

You can either spend couple of hours for lunch & walk along the beach, enjoying the lovely view .. Or you can spend a whole day .. Just be aware of some of the locals who will approach you to buy some of the bad quality items, or the young locals who will ask for money only to jump over the rock in the ocean .. IGNORE THEM! If you go in mid hot day, make sure to have your shades & enough water .. There some restaurants around, & the prices are just average ..

Great place for browsing, walking, picking up coffee. Not a place to stress. People friendly, helpful, not pushy.
