We stayed at Secret Palace Guest House for 5 days this month. In a nutshell, it was very clean.
Rasike, and her family were all so nice and helpful. They easily arranged tuk tuk's (driven by Rasike's brother Namal) for us and even a driver (no hassles and stopping at friends shops) + safari in Yala National Park.
The Galle Fort area is quite interesting, however after around 7pm becomes very quiet. I would recommend eating/shopping outside the fort for better prices and atmosphere. The main commercial areas outside the fort are within easy walking distance from the guest house, as is the bus + train stations for easy access to the many different beach resorts in south Sri Lanka (Mirissa, Unawatuna, Tengalle, all up to Matara can be reached in 1.5 hours max and the buses are so cheap and a fun experience in themselves!)
We really enjoyed our stay and thought that this place was fantastic value for money. The room was clean, big enough + had a nice balcony. However I did get bitten a lot by mosquitos so if there's one thing I recommend, it's searching/spraying the inside of the mosquito net for any before going to sleep otherwise they will have a feast!
Thanks again to Rasike!More
