“Visit for the entertainment!”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

Mr. Dairy King accosted us at the junction towards the ramparts where he was standing with his bicycle. He convinced us to try out the ice creams saying "Dairy King" was an international brand! I had not hear of it, and he showed shock at my ignorance! When I told him it tasted just like a local brand of ice cream, he told me, if I want original ice cream to come to him and if not go elsewhere. He was quite a character! I visit for the entertainment!

It is a tiny establishment, and the ice cream sundaes and milk shakes looked as if they were in generous portions.

A scoop of chocolate ice cream was Rs.40. And worth it on a hot day.

“Homemade Ice-Ceam and Friendly Owner”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

I was attracted to the name of this Ice-cream shop (rather to call it a Cafe).
We bought 2 ice-creams and take a rest in this tiny shop.
The owner talked to us and claimed that all their ice-cream are homemade.
It did taste good under such hot whether with reasonable price.

What I like about this place is that it still keep to the old Galle Fort charm -
Nice place to take a rest at the veranda and enjoy a cool homemade ice-cream!

All the best with the competition of new the Gelato outlet just few hundreds meters away.

“Sneaky owner”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

The owner enticed us in here offering us so many different flavours of homemade icecream, and after being unimpressed scouting out the other top reccomended places here on tripadvisor, though we'd give it a go. Well, we paid the equivalent of £3 for a mixed fruit iced drink, which was pretty extortionate, but we were hot and thirsty by this point. Traditionally, in Sri Lanka, anywhere you go your driver gets given a complimentary meal/drink etc. The owner spoke with our driver (all in Sinhalese) and asked him if he wanted anything, our driver asked for water, and he was given a bottle of water, he told us normally they're just given tap, especially as he didn't request a bottle. We were then charged for our drivers water! OK it didn't cost much at all, but it's the principal, we weren't impressed. BTW the 'seating area' is on the veranda of the guys house, you can hear his children squabbling in the room behind you.

“Delicious homemade ice cream and kind and friendly service.”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

In Church Street, Galle, close to Rampart Street corner, is a delightful ice cream shop called Dairy King selling homemade icecream for 200 Rupees ($1.60). Coconut and mango both delicious.
