We thought this place looked interesting when we passed it during the day, so we were shown round by a nice man who worked there.
He said they could do a good Sri Lankan vegetarian meal for us so we booked for the evening. To our horror when we arrived there was a terrible singer/guitarist, with a harmonica round his neck Dylan style and a cowboy hat. We asked to sit as far as possible from the verandah where he was stationed. He proceeded to murder lots of well known songs (Yesterday, Imagine etc) very loudly. To make matters worse, he then came round to each table in turn.

Even without him, the indoor restaurant had no ambience or atmosphere, and the food was barely average. Nothing awful, but no wonderful spices. Terribly lighting and tacky decor. And it was expensive.

There are lots of wonderful restaurants in Galle Fort. Avoid this one. I wonder how many people didn't come in to dinner when they heard the musician? We would have walked straight past if we hadn't booked.

Thank Sally W

This restaurant lives up to its name. The building has been tastefully renovated and stands out as far as restaurants go in the Fort district. The choice from the menu is ample and the quality and service is very good.I definitely recommend this restaurant and I must add the prices are very reasonable.

Located in the heart of the fort, this is a truly excellent operation within what looks like a delightful boutique hotel. Plenty of staff and visible management make for excellent service. The menu is interesting and the veranda seating attractive. We chose the ubiquitous Vegetable Curry and Rice, which was deemed by my wife to be the best she had in Sri Lanka, and Chicken Masala, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Without having experienced a great many eating places in Galle, I would nonetheless be surprised to find many better than this. We would be interested in staying here next time.

Beautiful building, food good although we only ordered a simple salad but watch out for the drinks. We were charged 1200 rupees for one glass of wine. This is outrageously expensive and double even the prices of our 4 star hotel the lighthouse.

Deco 44 lifted our spirits after days of rubbish food along the sri lankan coast. Recommend the tuna and gotukola salad, crab in chili sauce (not on the menu, just ask) and the spicy prawns. Delicious. Dinner for 2 with beer cost 5650 rps
