“Thoroughly enjoyable”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

Out of the way roof-garden cafe that does what it says it's going to do: provide you with an excellent meal with outstanding service. If only all of the restaurants in Galle would / could do the same.

Lovely lunch: salad for my wife (Nutty Chicken) was a light repast that she savoured. She said that the chicken was prepared "perfectly". Crepe for me (Brand New Day w/ prawns) that I thoroughly enjoyed.

The ambiance of the restaurant is just right for a very enjoyable meal. (Music and decor is spot-on.)

Wait staff (Chatura) was attentive but not overbearing. Suggested a nice enhancement (adding a touch of ginger) to their Mint Chiller. Drinks and food prepared in good time and presentation was very nice.

All and all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

“nice place but not for the Crepes !!!”
Reviewed August 21, 2012 via mobile

What does french foreigners after a two weeks trip in Sri Lanka, finishing their journey in the magnificient Galle Fort ? They check trip advisor to find a nice place to eat something special to change from the classical rice and curry... Fortunately, the number one restaurant is a "Crepe" specialist, the french's (Bretagne) speciality pancake... For sure, it will be a nice dinner.

First we arrive in the place... A nice roof top (the best in the city according to what is written in the entrance). For this special night two charming young british ladies are offering a Yukulele concert. The iced tea and coffee are yummies. The staff is friendly and nice... Let's order and complete the perfect event.

That's the "gloups" (french word for "Wuck"). The main course pancake (in french we say salted crepe) is absolutely insane. Even if the inside were good (Tuna, mushrooms and cheezy sauce for me, chicken, pesto for my friend), the dough was tasteless, uncrusty (a Crepe should always be crusted) and unsalted... Not cooked in a buttered pan... Just insane...

The Crepe desert was better but still not a hit. Just something nice after two weeks of fruits, fruits and Curd and Honey (or nothing most of the time).

I would recommand Crep-Ology, just for the afternoon... For (Iced) Tea time... When your body ask for the sugar shot he's missing the day you arrived in Ceylon...

Certainely overrated. Crep-Ology should be renamed : Crepoximative and Tealicious !!!!

“refreshing long ice teas are a winner”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

We really liked the setting, fantastic location and friendly staff, but the menu is too extensive and means that each dish served was average during a busy period rather than having a few excellent meals to choose from. My crepe had already been devoured before my wife even received hers. The crepes could do with a little bit more filling, but the drinks are delicious, ice coolers and variety of ice tea flavours served in tall glasses means you still have some drink left by the time your food arrives!

“Crepes galore in quality surroundings”
Reviewed August 18, 2012 via mobile

Located in a quiet, backstreet location near the lighthouse and mosque. It's upstairs above some upmarket clothes/tea shops. Access via the shops or via stairs at the side of the building. Free/fast WiFi (no password required). Quality fittings throughout. Some tables overlook an open inner courtyard area. Selection of wooden tables & upright chairs plus a sofas & low table arrangement. Clean surroundings. Relaxing background music. Wide selection of hot & cold drinks plus, of course, lots of different kinds of crepes. Menu contains the following description of a crepe, "The Crepe is a thin pancake made from wheat or buckwheat flower that can be served with sweet or savoury fillings". I had a 'Crepe Madam' (ham, cheese & fried egg crepe with herb potatoes and a small salad), a banana smoothie and a bottle of mineral water. It was my first-ever crepe and I loved it! They also sell homemade cakes. I was also fortunate to speak to co-owners Murray (originally from Seattle) and Seema (London), who were a lovely couple.

Toilets downstairs (ground floor), but they're the cleanest I've used in the whole country!

Note: All meat is Halal and all ham and sausage is made from chicken. A 10% service charge is added to the order.

Tip: There was a tuktuk outside the premises, so getting a taxi shouldn't be a problem.

“Amazing building and interior, great food and drinks, and the best service!”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

If you are after an alternative to rice and curry this is perfect. The staff were friendly and genuine, including the owners. The menu was simple and everything we had was fresh and very tasty, especially the lime and mint cooler! The building and the interior design gave the place a wonderful ambience. Finally the service was easily the best we've experienced in Sri Lanka. We will definitely be returning!
