We stayed 8 nights at the Lighthouse on a bed and breakfast basis and chose this hotel mainly based upon the reviews on Tripadvisor. Delighted to say that the hotel lived up to our every expectation . We ate in The Cinnamon Room( Fine dining), Cardamon Cafe( A la Carte) and the Anchor Poolside bar and found the food to always be excellent with a wide choice and something to suit all tastes. We did not find it expensive for a 5* hotel although you have to bear in mind the 22% taxes added to the final bill. One issue we did have was the accuracy of the billing, not in the amounts but the room it was to be charged to so would recommend you check these details when signing. Breakfasts were plentiful and enough to set you up for the day. All of the hotel staff were attentive and eager to please and a real credit to the hotel. The restaurant manager was always on hand checking standards and chatting to the guests. Galle Fort and town is a 10 minute tuk tuk ride away, not recommended to walk it as the roads are manic and dangerous for pedestrians. It was always a pleasure after a day out and about in the hurly burly that is Sri Lanka to return to the haven of peace and tranquility of the Jetwing Lighthouse . Highly recommended.

Unforunately we stayed only one night, next time I go there I would like to spend at least a week as I would like to explore the city. This hotel was everything I dreamed of. Fantastic room with a 4 poster bed, facing the sea. Very clean an unusual bathroom. Prompt service from the staff of the hotel. The shopping arcade with many interesting things.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your short stay and for the positive review. I'm sure our signature dining experiences, the range of spa treatments on offer and the newly opened Marine Museum located in the Galle Fort is a must see during your next visit to Jetwing Lighthouse.

Yours Sincerely,
General Manager

During our two weeks holidays in Sri Lanka we stayed in 6 different hotel in Sri Lanka. Jetwing Lighthouse was by far the best hotel We stayed during our holidays. Indeed the service was equivalent to 5* hotel contrary to other hotel we stayed in Sri Lanka which were as 5* but were not really 5* hotels.

The location of the hotel is ideal right on the beach with beautiful sunset. The hotel has 2 huge swimming pool the one is locate at the garden next to the beach
And the other is next to main building and it is more quite and we really liked to swim there as we had the pool for ourselves.

Rooms were great really big and nice decorated with all the comforts of a 5* hotel, hair dryer etc. Room service was great as within a few minutes they were meeting all
Our requests. We even had a welcome plate of fresh fruits with the complements of the hotel.

We had our dinner at the restaurant and the food was great. Try the Tiger prawns simply delicious. Especially at night the restaurant has a great atmosphere as it next
To the beach and they have set fires on the beach next to the rocks which was lovely.

The staff was great, friendly and ready to assist at all times and always with a smile. Upon our arrival and departure the General Manager of the hotel came to welcome us and also To say bye bye on the last day.

It really nice to visit the Galle Fort during evening and enjoy the sunset.

Ending we highly recommend this hotel.

The deluxe room was magnificent with a balcony overlooking the Indian Ocean. Every thing that you would ever need was there and much more. At night the rocks were lit up adding to the ambiance. It was a fantastic place to view the ocean, unwind and sip champagne. From the very beginning at reception there was a feeling of peace and tranquility. After five minutes of sitting enjoying the view you definitely felt as though you were on the most relaxing holiday ever. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the food, both breakfast and dinner was superb. We were sorry that we didn't stay longer. Probably the only downside is that it is a long way from Galle itself, so if you were staying for a few days you would need access to a car.

Dear Guest,
Let me start of by saying thank you for staying at Jetwing Lighthouse during your stay in Sri Lanka. Our unique stairway and the 1st floor lobby is designed with tranquility in mind. The gorgeous Indian Ocean and the continuous crashing of the waves against the rocks, will make sure to unwind and relax you. These are just a couple of reasons why we dont rush you through a quick check in, unless requested upon by the guest.

Once the highway connecting from Colombo to the South is built, your travel time will be reduced compared to now. During the winter season there will be a luxury train operating from the air port and also an air taxi service, which again will reduce your travel time considerably.
Thank you for spending your holiday with us and hope to see you again in the near future.

Yours Sincerely,
General Manager

My wife and I have recently spent ten days at the Lighthouse Hotel to celebrate our Golden Wedding anniversary. We arrived there at the beginning of a high powered Naval and Military conference on maritime security mentioned in another review. There was a great deal of ‘gold braid’ around and both in and around the hotel complex a lot of security people were looking after their safety. Through the three days this took place hotel staff were kept particularly busy but never were we inconvenienced in any way, all staff retaining that quiet dignity and helpfulness we experienced throughout our stay.

I can’t believe the silly criticisms in some reviewers’ reports of this hotel. If all you want is night life and beaches then go to Blackpool. If you want respect and service from staff treat them with respect and courtesy. All staff in the hotel spoke some English, some fluently. All I suspect had a far better command of the complaining guest’s language than he did of theirs. For the complaining guest who said she was shown into a dark room it is normal in hot countries to keep door and window shutters closed during the day to keep rooms cool.

This is still an undeveloped country in many ways, still bearing the scars of the tsunami . The roads are terrible, the traffic dangerous and frantic and it takes hours to get anywhere. Which makes the Lighthouse so remarkable. It is not perfect, we had a couple of small complaints to make about fittings in our room but they were fixed pretty quickly. But we did have fresh sheets and towels every day. The room was spacious with magnificent views, clean and everything worked and a vase of beautiful fresh flowers were placed in the room each day.

As to checking if there is a conference at the hotel before you book as one critic suggests, forget it. The local Chamber of Commerce had taken the Fine Dining room the evening we had planned to go but a quiet word with the assistant manager instantly got us a candle lit table outside on the veranda, spectacular views, with our own waiter and fine-dining menu and a complimentary bottle of good wine. One of the finest evenings we have had in over 50 years of travelling

All the staff, the lovely girls in the upstairs foyer, the chaps who give out swimming and sun bed towels, the health centre staff, chefs and restaurant staff were all efficient and friendly. We spent a very happy and informative day with the charming hotel naturalist. The varied restaurant menu was extensive and outstanding. The location is picture postcard perfect. Don’t nit-pick It may be different to major city hotels in other parts of the word but it is still a very good hotel with attentive staff.

We have just returned from our second trip to Lighthouse and definitely not the last. It is, quite simply, the best hotel we have found. Please remember that this hotel was built around the sea and the rocks, it is the whole point of it's beauty, the fact that it is so in tune with nature. It is a bit silly therefore to expect it to be hermetically sealed.
The food and drink is more than 5 star quality and the spa and beach pool are again the best we have found.
The bed and pillows are, again, at least 5 star quality, only to be beaten by Ritz quality bedding.
This hotel is an oasis, a sanctuary and a place that you will want to retun to. If, however, you are looking for a carpeted hotel with kareoke and beer for breakfast, you are probably better off sticking to all inclusive Spain. This is hotel that is loved and appreciated by experienced travellers and I hope they keep it up. By the way, the internet room is very damp, but the sun was shining, the sea was blue, it didn't really matter.
