Eventhough the hotel locates outside of The famous Fort approx. 10 minutes by a Tuk Tuk but its still nice to choose to stay here because of its beautiful location right by the sea. You probably wouldn't miss anything in The Fort if you stay here because its very easy to reach to Fort and still, you can enjoy the pool, green garden and sea view time at the hotel.

(Note: For Tuk Tuk Stop in front of the hotel, the charge is 500 Rupees for round trip drive which you can ask the driver to wait for you at any particular meeting point and you meet him there again after an hour or so and 400 Rupees for one way drive and we noticed that its already a good deal as other Tuk Tuk from town would charge us 400 Rupees from the Fort back to hotel as well as they said, it's a standard price)

At The Lighthouse Hotel, You have a beautiful view of the sea at the breakfast, dinner, pool area, fitness center and also from your room which you probably won't have that if you stay in some hotel inside the fort. The hotel has a nice green garden area where you can spend your mornings or afternoons on the day bed, enjoying the nice sea breeze and the view after a long day tour in the Fort.

The breakfast and dinner buffet is great and have variety of choices from local Sri Lanka dishes to international. We have tried a fine dinning menu and were happy with the food and its quality. The price is not that high as we expected and the taste is really good.

The lobster termidor dish for the lobster size of approx. 550 gramms costs around 3,200 Rupees. (Approx. 26 USD or 20 EUR or 780 THB only) and the taste is really good.
A starter dish of pan fried sea scallop costs approx. 600 Rupees (Approx. 5 USD or 4 EUR or 150 THB). So, If you happen to stay here, please keep one night to try out the fine dining menu where you can enjoy a lovely atmosphere on the terrace, fresh sea breeze and delicious dishes.

The room size is huge as we stayed in The Spilbergen Suite, nice balcony with beautiful view and huge living room area, small pantry, 2 restrooms and shower with bathtub area.

It's not a new hotel with fancy and modern furniture but its surely a lovely place to stay in Galle and it's worth the price.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments on Trip Advisor, your feedback is much appreciated. We use our guest feedback in our development directly, and from your comment I see that we are heading in the right direction. Here at Jetwing Lighthouse we put in a lot of time and effort in to staff development and also the maintenance of the property overall. It is a pleasure to read that you have seen all the effort we have put in and it is great that it is appreciated, and it will only give the entire team here more motivation to do even better.

I will look into it that your compliments are passed are on to the relevant managers and that it filters down to their teams. All the facilities and services we have provided is to better guest experiences, and the location of Jetwing Lighthouse also allows our guests to head out in to the historic Galle Fort and explore when they need a change from the facilities provided within the property.

We only hope that you would come and enjoy the very authentic and unique Jetwing Lighthouse experience again in the near future and thank you for your detailed feedback once again.

Galle Lighthouse is an iconic hotel. It has won awards for its quality. It is very good, but it is being overtaken by newer resorts.

The hotel is a few minute drive north of Galle. The location is beautiful in its own right, and being a short drive from Galle Fort is a minor inconvenience. A three-wheeler into town took a couple of minutes and cost next to nothing.

The room was luxurious and well-equipped, but starting to show its age in a few ways. For example, the wooden doors, while adding a lot of character, are a bit dated.

The breakfast buffet is standard hotel fare. It had something for everyone. I was there for a conference. Lunches and dinners were provided, so I can't comment on the typical restaurant food or service.

There are two pools, one adjacent to the hotel and another down a short trail away from the hotel. The area of the second pool offered a large green space with lawn chairs overlooking the ocean. They were quieter and more private than the seating around the main pool. A very nice touch.

If you're going to Galle I have no hesitation recommending the Lighthouse (depending naturally on the rate you can get). However, if all you want is a luxurious getaway at a beachside resort on the south coast, I think you can get more luxurious choices at the newer resorts up and down the coast.

Dear Guest,

Jetwing Lighthouse has been in operation for over 15 years now, and is one of the most iconic properties in Sri Lanka. With the location we face a constant battle with maintenance due to the close proximity to the ocean and the strong sea breeze that directly sweeps through the property. The salt content in the air tends to affect the furniture to the electronic items with Jetwing Lighthouse. It is something we work hard to minimize and provide a guest with the best possible rooms and facilities. The property has gone through a renovation and we hope to have that completed soon, and that should freshen up the property and reduce the ‘aged’ effect hat you speak of.

I am extremely pleased to hear that you were able to enjoy all our facilities and services, and thank you for recommending us so highly on Trip Advisor. We are pleased with your comments on the quality of our two pools and the garden area, but let me assure you that I will look in to the service levels as you don’t seem to be pleased with what you received.

I also want to take this opportunity to invite you back to Jetwing Lighthouse when your travels bring you to the South coast of Sri Lanka.

Sincerely,
Robert Claesson

This is a very beautiful hotel, with an original Geoffrey Bawa design. The food is superb and decor although dated but very nice.
Great sea views but not close enough to walk to galle.
The main fault is the check in service, like the rest of Sri Lanka, they sit you in a very tranquil setting and give you the welcome drink, but don't expect to get to the room for 30 to 60 min from arrival. Why I can't explain. Especially if you ve been touring and been in a van for hours, waiting to check in is last thing you want to do.
Overall its a great hotel with good sea views.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor for a better view

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing Jetwing Lighthouse and also for leaving a review on Trip Advisor. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, and will go on to helping us improving ourselves. The design is absolutely spectacular and we work hard to make sure that the services and facilities available live up to that standard as well.

I have taken on board your comments on the check in time, and will speak to the relevant manager about this. We do offer cold towels and a refreshing choice of welcome drinks, but I do not know why there was such a delay. I would like to apologize for this delay that you speak of but let me assure you that it is not something regular at Jetwing Lighthouse as we understand some guests like to be checked in to their rooms as soon as they arrive.

Thank you again for your feedback, and I eagerly await to see you back at Jetwing Lighthouse in the near future.

Sincerely,
Robert Claesson

This hotel is nicely placed outside of Galle, what I thought was a shame when we arrived. But after only 10 minutes with the tuk tuk you are in Galle town itself. It costs you 400 rupee.
The hotel is big, has its own 2 swimming pools and a great piece of beach where you can stroll and find beautiful seashells. Swimming in the sea is too dangerous though. The rooms are very spacious. we slept with our 2 kids in one room. One extra bed for one child and the other one in between.
And still enough space in the twin bed and the room. Really nice balcony with a fantastic view over the wild sea. If you are lucky you can spot some dolphins. Breakfast is great, atmosphere is a bit cold in the breakfast area. The bonus of not sleeping in Galle town itself is of course that you have space. We came here with our 2 kids (6 and 9 years) after a long journey and they wanted to stretch their legs instead of visiting old buildings again. Lovely place.

Room Tip: Great hotel with kids who like to stretch their legs and swim in the pool

This hotel has a real wow factor. From the extraordinary sculpture in the entrance to the wrap-around ocean views to the simple elegance of the rooms.

The standard of cuisine is very good for a hotel of this size and the staff are wonderful.
