Great location in the middle of Galle. Rooms were pretty basic but spacious and all are right next to the pool. We didn’t sample the food but there was a great restaurant opposite we went to a couple of times. Staff were friendly and attentive. I’d recommend this as a nice place to stay and it’s good value for money.

We stayed here for two nights and the hotel, rooms and service were first class. The hotel has great Art Deco features and the rooms are generously sized, we had a pool at our front door! The restaurant serves great breakfast and their tour services are great. We went to the turtle hatchery which was great. A highlight was the cooking class where you learn authentic Sri Lankan cooking, a must do. Not only were the chefs very talented, they were very friendly making the course great fun! Will definitely visit Deco on 44 again!!

This is a good hotel with friendly, helpful staff but the venue is showing it’s age.

Everything in the bedroom made a noise. The bed creaked; the floor creaked; the fridge made odd sounds; the wardrobe would randomly creak.

The pool had a light that had come off the fitting and was floating in the water with the wires exposed, and it was overall slightly dirty water.

That said, the hotel has history and character and it’s location is fantastic as it is so central to all that is going on at the fort.

This hotel is a feast for the eyes. Located centrally to everything in Galle Fort, it is exceptionally clean and includes all of the trimmings of a colonial deco exclusive hotel. Pool huge and private. Only 7 rooms. Restaurant food fresh and varied. Mid range price. Staff lovely. Arranged tuk tuks, money change, excursion, and many recommendations. Security watching at all times. Crisp linen and cumfy beds. Our first days in Sri Lanka and we wanted somewhere that we felt would ease us in gently. This hotel ticked all boxes. Highly recommended.
