We visit this spot yearly it's so good. It has a relaxed vibe, (slightly yuppy, but don't let that put you off). Great view over the stunning beach & very safe lagoon for swimming. Sit and drink beer, listening to chill out tunes watching turtles (esp in monsoon season), and tuck into fantastically fresh & superbly grilled fish. If you feel like a change from the fab local food, the pizza is a must. They have a pizza oven. Prices are at the higher end for this area, but well worth it.

Great beach for kids as it's protected by an offshore reef. There are currents, but less so than nearby Unawatuna. Beach is narrow with little natural shade, though some is afforded by the beach cafe. Cafe is good enough, but service is variable: sometimes reasonably quick, but painfully slow at others. The draw back is it's expat central with Brits leading the way in braying and drinking.

A perfect place to stop off and have a beer or a pizza or a cocktail (ok so any reason really!). Wijaya has a beautiful natural swimming pool (created by the reef) out front of the bar and restaurant and it is worth a visit just for this. Come early in the morning (6-7am) when you have the beach almost all to yourself (except Jan/Dec) or in the evening... both amazing times for a swim... just maybe not so much a beer - save that for the evening ;-). My fav is the Arak Attack... gingerbeer and Arak (local spirit) and lime... Amazing. Wijaya now offers accommodation so also check that one out... very few simple low key places you can stay with a variety of really great food right on spot!

A popular place with the louder, hooray-henry sort of European ex-patriate clientele who don't care what it costs as long as the alcohol keeps coming and no-one wants Sri Lankan food.

The location is lovely set right on the beach with very safe bathing for small children. And kids love pizza so could be ideal if there was more Sri Lankan food on the menu. It isn't cheap and portions are small though the calamari is well cooked and the mango salad delicious.

Service may be acceptable in the downstairs area, but very slow upstairs - so slow (more than an hour for pizzas and calamari which came in dribs and drabs) we refused to pay the 10% service charge added as a matter of course to bills in Sri Lanka.

A must for Pizza Officianados, service was quick and efficient, prices reasonable, beverage selection was fair. This place tends to get crowded on holidays and weekends.
Located on a nice stretch of beach and safe swimming for kids. Changing facilities could do with improvement.
