“Pricey average food, great hosts and atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2011

So the food here, we only had coffee and the crepes, was very so-so. I think the place is more like an old uncle's antique shop where you come to hear stories . The hosts were indeed fantastic and the atmosphere nice. but the coffee at Rs 180! and the pancakes were expensive and not very good. Come here more for the atmosphere and hosts less for the food. I would still recommened you stop by if in Galle. I didnt try the biriani but it might be nice.

“Fascinating stories from wonderful host”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2010

This little cafe in Leyn Baan street is owned and run by Fazal Badurdeen (pictured). The cafe serves a wide variety of teas, cakes, savouries and delicious Sri Lankan dishes. What makes this cafe a must is Mr. Badurdeen, who is an excellent story teller and who will keep you enthralled with his stories about the history of the Galle Fort and the families who live in it. If you really want to met the locals, you should start here!
