Coming from Penang where the favorite pass time has to be eating, and why not since it is "South East Asia's liveliest street food scenes" as reported in the New York Times. So you can rest assured that it takes good food to put a smile on our faces and only great food to assure our recommendation.
My trip to Galle was made even more memorable with wonderful dining experiences at Galle Fort Hotel Restaurant, from breakfast to lunch and dinner. Imagine waking up to a bowl of exotic tropical fruits, Sri Lankan omelet served with thick dalcha gravy, toasts and a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Indeed, it was a happy way to start the day.
The restaurant also serves authentic Asian delights that were innovative and scrumptious. The carefully selected set dinner includes an entrée, main course and dessert plus coffee or tea for LKR 3000/++. My favorite items from the kitchen includes Vietnamese rice paper rolls, Thai crab cakes, crispy prawn wontons, Ayam Percik, sugar cane prawns on green mango salad with jasmine rice, fresh fruit sorbet and chocolate mud cake with homemade vanilla bean ice cream. I had the opportunity to sample such a diverse selection of Asian cuisines all under one roof during my stay at Galle.
The ambiance in the fully-restored old merchant’s house overlooking the pool was beautiful and very relaxing. Add quality service to this outstanding atmosphere and coupled with fantastic food makes a full and rich dining experience.
