After arriving a day late very tired, due to our flight being cancelled we were blown away by everything this beautiful place has to offer. From our first welcome to our last meal we were made to feel at home and nothing was too much trouble. We can only endorse what other reviewers have written.
Must mention the food, we had intended to try other restaurants on an evening, but after our first meal we abandoned this idea. The currys were delicious, as were the king prawns, whole fish cooked in banana leaves, all being prepared to your own taste.
We did a 3 day tour in the Hill country staying in Ella with Hamar our driver, who was excellent and knowledgable. This area is stunning ideal for walkers and nature lovers.
We are now planning a second visit end of June to visit Kandy and the cultural triangle rounding this up with another stay with Karen & Rohan.
Anyone thinking of staying here we 100% recommend.

Karen and Rohan are wonderful hosts. Neat and clean homely atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and trendy. Ours had a kichenette too although I would strongly recommend trying out the food there. You wouldn't want to miss the grilled tiger prawns and the authentic curry. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If a 10 minute walk to the lovely beach looks too much of work on a holiday, one can always get a ride on the hotel tuk tuk (three wheeler) which is fun too.

I wish Karen and Rohan the very best!! RR

Shangri Lanka Villa really does deserve it's Trip Advisor rating. After touring around South West Sri Lanka, this place really was the best. We arrived late and tired after a tour and the staff prepared a lovely curry for us. The room was the best we'd stayed in....a huge bedroom, living area / room and massive bathroom - all beautifully decorated with comfy beds. It also had a large balcony overlooking the pool and the trees, where we ate breakfast.

Whilst on the tour we decided to splash out and stay at Amaya Hills in Kandy - this was very expensive at 160$ per night and the room was very small and the food wasn't great, although the view made up for it. Shangri Lanka exceeded our expectations and the service, food and accommodation were much better than that of the Amaya Hills.

It's very relaxed and Karen was lovely - really chatty and friendly and we enjoyed listening to her experiences of living in Sri Lanka. We didn't meet Rohan, as he was on a tour. The boys that work there are great. Nothings too much trouble. If you want to go the beach / bank / supermarket / meal out etc, they'll happily whizz you down in the tuk-tuk. There's a gorgeous stretch of beach at the end of the road. We hired bikes and it took about 2 minutes to cycle down there.

We don't normally return to the same place for holidays, however, Sri Lanka is a beautiful island, with lovely people and a varied landscape. We will return and we'll book in advance at Shangri Lanka, as I guess this place will get booked up!

Thanks Karen and the boys.

Love Claire and Mark (aka Bob Marley) ;-)

I cannot recommend Shangri-Lanka Villa more highly, nothing was too much trouble for Rohan,Karen and the staff, we had good food at our convenience and what we asked for. Rohan took us on a four day tour throughout Sri Lanka and this was well organised and very enjoyable and reasonably priced. The rooms were modern, spacious and always clean, the highest standard of comfort and cleanliness. Definately going back hopefully soon.

Shangri-Lanka Villa is a very, very relaxing place to stay. We brought our two year old with us and she loved it as well. Rohan and Karen were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. The only draw back is that the hotel is not directly on the beach, for us this wasn't an issue as it is only a 10 min walk or a 1 min tuk tuk ride. That said, from start to finish the experience was absolutely fantastic and I cannot recommend staying here enough.
