Our vacations went just perfect, Saman Villa with its exclusive wooden décor and traditional Sri Lankan style hospitality made it actually right location for our romantic holidays. We selected the deluxe with private pool room, from where we captured the natural drizzling and beautiful beach view outlined by lush green coast line. The Stylish in-room amenities were impressive, I like the natural day light open shower with Vanilla flowers (Budha Flowers) falling on us, the automatic door blinds just rightly design for early morning sun rise view. The spa facility was must to visit, we tried milk bath and loved it after our body message.

The service at Saman Villa was exemplary (friendly and non-instrusive). They gave special care to our need & requirements in order to make us feel comfortable, here I would like to mention some of the name “Ms. Nerusha (Receptionist with the cheerful smile, always available for attending customer requirements)”, “Ms. Gayatari (the pretty lady with good management style)”, and “Chief Rizvi (one of the best chief who knows how to tickle the taste buds)”, the confectionary chief was good too. I still remember the heart shape marzipan cake exclusively made for us.

Thanks you guys for making things special for us

I give high recommendation to select Saman Villas for exotic & memorable time

We arrived on the 15th September from the first leg of our honeymoon trip, which was in Dubai. Saman villas gave us the complete contrast which we wanted from our few days in Dubai. From our arrival, when we were met by the very polite and respectful staff, we knew we had chosen the right place.
We want a peaceful, relaxing, secluded and romantic location to spend the final part of our honeymoon and that is exactly what we got. One of the key parts of the hotel is it's seclusion and the beautiful views. The dinning area and the infinity pool area overlook the sea and the views from both are absolutely stunning and to be honest will be the most memorable part of the holiday.
The food, particularly the dinners, were excellent and our compliments to the chef who came out a few times to meet the guests. The staff were always polite and courteous at all times and the villas were kept clean and tidy by the house keeping staff.
Another good aspect of our stay was ambience, due to the limited number of villas at the hotel, it was peaceful and relaxed and we often had the feeling we were the only ones there.
To be honest we got everything we wanted..........and a lot more from our honeymoon stay at the Saman Villas. Thank you very much guys.

The only minor downside was the price of the drinks, but then we are not big drinkers and hence we not really affected.

Spent the first three nights of our honeymoon at Saman Villas in mid July and it was an absolutely perfect start. The food was amazing, particularly the Sri Lankan breakfasts, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Sure, it's not the cheapest place in Sri Lanka but everything was of such high quality that it was worth every penny in my opinion.

Upon arrival we were presented with a bottle of champagne and fresh fruits, and the next day we given an amazing chocolate cake. It was these little touches that really made the difference.

The pool was a brilliant place to relax and nearly always deserted, and although we only had dinner by the pool on one occasion, it was absolutely delicious.

The spa was great - a real area of tranquility. My wife really enjoyed her 2 hour massage whilst I just took advantage of a complimentary treatment.

The only shame was that the water was so rough that you couldn't go into the sea and that quite a lot of rubbish had been washed up upon the beach. Obviously this was not the fault of the hotel but it was a touch disappointing.

Arrivijng down a little track off the Galle road you wonder what you have booked but when you get inside, you enter a different world. Great acommation, restaurant and staff. We had a room to the south side of the complex with sea views. We went for a superior first floor room and it was worth the little extra. Having the complimentary tea or coffe first thing in the morning was a nice touch and we enjoyed the walks on the south beach. Pool and restaurant facilities are very good and food in restaurant was very good. We only ventured out for lunch once and did not find a place better in than the hotel. The south side of the complex is nicer we think as the north beach does suffer from the outflow from a local canal. If you are staying in Bentota this place is well worth a visit and would recommend it to friends. Sri Lankan is great.

Room Tip: Stay on the south side

Reference to the outflow from a canal to the north beach needs clarification. The flood level of a large inland lake is controlled by discharging water via a canal into the sea on the north side of the hotel. An aerial photograph of this can be seen in our Library. This water is colored. In fact, in our guest information we do recommend swimming in the south side sea because, 1. The canal water is colored and 2. There are many rocks on the north side near the hotel and a swimmer can get injured.

We wish you would return and look forward to welcoming you to Saman Villas.

Saman Villas is a gorgeous place with some amazing scenery. The deluxe rooms are equipped with your very own private pool, but the privacy could be better.
The beach is beautiful and you can easily spend hours just walking and walking and walking. it is also ideal for romantic walks and the water is so clear. Its amazing how clear the sea water is.

Facilities are fabulous and you do really get spoiled. Huge bath room with an awesome tub and open roof shower makes you feel like royalty.
Food is fantastic, but needs a bit more creativity.
You can spend hours just chilling in your own pool area and the common pool provides for some breath taking scenes as it was one of the first hotels to build an infinity pool. Beautiful.

The service, is much to be desired. The staff can easily walk into your private garden area (where the pool is) with no warning, which can cause some very embarrassing predicaments. The fact that they charge 10% service charge for getting your desert sent to the room is very inconvenient as well.. The staff also seem to treat the foreign guests better than the locals. NOT GOOD!!! For an exotic hotel that has been talked about so much and for the price you pay for a night you would expect better regard for the guests from the staff.

The spa is fabulous. The staff of the spa is very professional. Very hospitable and full body massage is one of the best I have experienced so far.

It was also inconvenient for there to be a standard room above the deluxe room for the "privacy" of your "private" pool is lost when there is a direct view of everything from the standard room balcony.

All, in all, it is a great place for honey-mooners and the like but not so for family. I will definitely come back with my wife as when the time to leave comes you feel you don't want to. Which is a good thing and I guess no hotel is perfect. Good place, but better service is required.

Room Tip: Only worth if you can spend on the deluxe room. The standard room is not worth it. And also spend mo...

We thank the reviewer for their stay at Saman Villas and sharing their holiday experience.
We deeply regret the incident where a member of our staff has walked into your private garden, we presume when the “privacy please” board was on display. Staff are strictly prohibited from entering when the “privacy please” board is displayed. For urgent or very important official purposes staffs are required to telephone and get approval prior to entering. Please accept our very sincere apologies for this very serious lapse.

We treat all our guests equally irrespective of nationality. To us all guests are VIPs. The fact that Sri Lankans pay about one third the foreign rates does not mean that they are entitled to any inferior service or inferior product except that the welcome drink for guests who pay the foreign rate is sparkling wine.

Sir, thank you for commenting on the private pool. Our reply is for the benefit of future visitors.
There is often a misunderstanding of the English words ‘Private’ and ‘Privacy’. ‘Private’ according to the Oxford dictionary means belonging to or for the use of one particular person or group of people only. ‘Privacy’ means a state in which one is not observed or disturbed by other people.

The particular villa the reviewer occupied was a deluxe with pool. In our website this pool is described as “7 meter infinity edge lap pool overlooking the Indian Ocean for your private use”

For an additional 21% we offer the Grand Deluxe with a pool which is described in our website as “7 meter secluded lap pool overlooking the Indian Ocean with sun deck and dining area for your private use”.

For an additional 47% we offer the Villa (duplex with floor area 1,261 sq.ft) where the pool is described as “7 meter secluded lap pool with sun deck and sun loungers for your private use in privacy”

The percentages are worked out on our standard rates for foreigners and quoted from our website as at 6th September 2012 and inclusive of 10% service charge and 15.2% government taxes.

Our website clearly explains the difference and what it cost to get absolute privacy.
We charge a room service supplement of 10% for additional service on food served to the room.

We were delighted in reading the favorable comments and thank you for expressing them for the benefit of visitors to this website.

We are pleased that you will be returning and look forward to welcoming you to Saman Villas.

We got married at Saman Villas in early July and although we didn't stay at the hotel we cant speak highly enough of the hotel and it's staff. The location is amazing and food is exceptional. The management were excellent at communicating with us in the lead up to the wedding to finalise arrangements and made it a stress free event. The staff were outstanding on the day and their attention to detail was fantastic.

Every one of our wedding guests were impressed by the hotel and staff. When it started raining mid dinner reception, staff came running from everywhere and relocated the entire setting for 30 people and in less than 30 minutes we were sitting indoors and carried on as though there was no rain interruption. No fussing from the staff who were standing in the pouring rain moving tables and chairs indoors.

Saman Villas made our wedding a perfect celebration and it will fondly remain in our memory forever.

We stayed at Saman Villas last year for New Year's Eve. What an incredible spot! It was expensive, but well worth the splurge. Our own pool overlooking the ocean? You bet. Our room was beautiful, the food was delicious and it had the best bathtub in Sri Lanka. We were going to go to the restaurant for the NYE feast, but it was astronomically expensive, so we stayed in our room and had a lovely time. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are very kind. Excellent communal pool area also. All infinity. The ocean has a very strong rip so be careful, esp. with little ones. I am a strong swimmer and still had one or two tense moments. We met the loveliest people on the beach. Please go down and buy a sarong from the little hut on the beach to the right. So sweet! The owner also drives a rikshaw and took us to buy jewellery and to the turtle hatchery where we let 10 babies go into the ocean. The only downside was that another hotel down the beach had a party until about 3:30 in the morning. So no sleep for us for awhile. Ultimately, it was expensive, but we had a blast and the memories are priceless.

Room Tip: Get a beach room with your own pool!
